We've been watching some of Rob Bell's videos on Wednesday night at church and one thing he brought up last week or so was a simple concept, but so many of us fail to grasp it.
A lot of Christians LOVE to argue microscopic minutia theological differences between denominations - pre-millenial, post-millenial, a-millenial; dodge, dip, dunk, dive, dodge and sprinkle; faith > works, works > faith; on and on and on.
The Bible gives us a glimpse into the mind of God, but only a glimpse. Why do we argue over minutia when it so very possibly is that God looks down on all our pharisetical rumblings of you gotta say "In the name of Jesus", NO! you gotta say: "In the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit" and God just says "Yep!" It's about obedience, not whether we've proved we are holier than thou but doing it "As Jesus said" or "As Jesus was done". God's mind is not something we can fathom in His Will, His Way, His Love.
So so much like what I post here: "no rules, just relationship".
Rob is pretty controversial in some of his theology. He steps on more than a few toes... but the fruit is on the tree. He is leading a part of a huge growth in reaching out to young people. I'm going to find some of his videos and post them here. Discuss if you feel like it.
