Hey, there's a church down Franklin off of MLK called Central Emanuel...the pastors name is Laruse I think. Lissy goes to G.E.D. class there. Anyway, they are having a youth/college & career centered revival on the the second weekend of next month. May be a good opportunity to send some stand folks out there to meet some people and get them involved in the Gathering...anybody interested in going? I have met the pastor and even sang at their church once during the Christmas banquet last year...I think they would probably be pretty open to the idea of getting involved...

We had another Brainstormin tonight...

long time no see! i hope everyone is doin great! well, i'm just writing to let ya'll know (if ya'll haven't heard) about the 40 day revolution. it is mostly for middle school-high school, but anyone in college can join as well (atleast i decided that, and hey, what i say is what counts right? <img src="wink.gif" border="0" alt="" /> ). anyhoo, here's a copy of the invite..."A Revolution is coming. It will influence this entire community. It will change the lives of thousands of students. On September twenty-second the Network of Student Ministries will initiate the beginning of a forty-day revolution. Students in every Jr. & Sr. high school in this community will experience it. It will change hearts and minds for a lifetime. Will you be a part of it?
The Revolution is a powerful, effective strategy that students in schools and youth groups across Jefferson and Mid County will participate in. The Revolution will empower students to change the moral climate of their campus with the truth and life of Jesus Christ. What it would be like to see a whole high school or junior campus (or college campus=)) transformed from the negative peer pressures of drugs, alcohol, and promiscuity to an environment that is conducive to great personal and spiritual development. It can happen. It will happen, as the young people of this community from Hamshire-Fanett to Bridge City embark on the mission of the Revolution.
The Revolution is forty days of student-led activities that will demonstrate in each campus the love of God for this generation. Every student who will take part in the Revolution will receive a student packet, which will give them the necessary tools to accomplish the tasks they will have set before them. The reports that have been given of the Revolution have been phenomenal. As a result of the Revolution, drug and crime rates in many schools have dropped drastically, and students haven taken a whole new and refreshing perspective of their campus life. You can be a part of it. We would like to invite you to be a part of this movement to enable students to change their campuses. The Network of Student Ministries has already begun to work toward ensuring that every student who wants to participate will have an opportunity."
~it's too late to register as a group, but if you are interested in joinin the revolution you can register at the door on sept. 22nd (it's a saturday). it'll be $15 to register (this includes a t-shirt and the packet you will be receiving). the meeting (called the Special Forces Training) will be held at 10 am at First Baptist Port Neches (on the corner of Magnolia and 6th Street). if you have any questions you can call mark sandy at First Baptist Church in Groves, 962-4461. you could always call me (504-1021), but mark probably knows more than i do =D. well, i hope to see some of ya'll there..i hope i can make it to the gathering, but i don't know if i have to work yet. What a better way to start off a month long movement than with a full day of Prayer?
