Yes, I am really into photography, so much so I spend a lotta time reading other photographer's blogs. One of my favorites is by the Bebb's - 1 of the Top 10 Wedding studios in the world. Recently Jenn Bebb has come down with ovarian cancer and has been posting about it. She shared a post by a photographer friend of hers (Tamara Lackey) called " World Changers "

I don't equate my run coming up on Saturday with the accomplishments of the people that Tamera shares with us - not even close. But, it's not about doing something that big. We lament the world we live in, we talk about the major, earth changing issues that surround us, and we do it from the comfort of our environmentally unfriendly homes, or while on a cigarette break from work, or while driving through a fast food drive thru for our dinner.
What has challenged you recently enough to do something? There's nothing we can do about world peace or famine in somalia, but what about that person you pass every day?

In a similar vein...
We hear, read and see so MUCH that tears our souls down bit by bit - "if it bleeds, it leads" - always so much bad news. We don't get the chance to stop and bask in what is good with the world. I try and avoid putting things into my spirit that will tear it down, but the avalanche is hard to hold back. It reminds me of Philippians:
Philippians 4:8
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."
That brings me to this video I stumbled across while reading a fellow photographer's website. Take 5 minutes to warm your soul:
The people in it are genuine, the little girls themselves are heartwarming. What warms your soul?

Hazel sent me this earlier this week, Melanie and I watched it earlier today. Tony Melendez will definitely warm your soul, and give you a couple less excuses.
As you know I have become a junkie for Craig's List. With this move coming up I've been selling (and buying) things to fit into my soon to be smaller space. It's funny the things we think aren't insignificant to us, can be huge to others who are really hurting.
In my search for "stuff" I was amazed and saddened by the number of people who posted on there asking for things, all kinds of things, all having stories about a circumstance or struggle that has overtaken their lives. Now I know that sometimes people are scamming to just get things, but you know what? Who cares? It really doesn't matter in God's eyes. What matters is the condition of the heart.
Every year around Christmas I go to the Trans Siberian Orchestra's performance and their theme is always about giving and helping and sharing and one line in the closing song says "To know who needs help, we need only just ask". So I've begun to answer these people and if I have the things that they need, I just give it to them. God has always provided for me and my family. He has always put people in my path for my benefit. He is Sovereign and always Faithful. If I can help someone who is going through a rough spot I do.
I have so many things, and I don't need things, I need people.

ya know what? the only experience i had with craigs list was selling a bedroom suit and a mattress, to seperate buyers. the guy who bought the mattress had gone thru a divorce and was sleeping on an air bed and bought my queen size matt. for $50 and i threw in the queen sheets i had, and he was so tickled, so greatful. it was a neat experience. who knew sheets would make so much of a difference! it was good for me. i am also "shedding my skin" so to speak, and getting rid of stuff as well, good feeling.
warms my heart ? what heart ? just kidding. the show "extreme makeover home edition" ALWAYS gets me. we cry every show. what a neat job that would be! to be able to rebuild people's lives, no matter what reasons they might have had getting into this business, there is no way they can continue to do such wonderful things and NOT get something very rewarding out of it.
