In an effort to make P & W "greener" they have replaced all of our overhead lighting in the shop with motion sensored lighting. this way when there's no one working a particular shift, that cell or area won't use energy. What really stinks about that is I can no longer sneak in a few minutes late because now when I come in (in the dark) and walk the route to my office...every light goes on ahead of me to light my way... I can just hear them on the shop floor saying... Ahhhh, she's late today... ROFL!

I am not against being a good steward over what God gives us. It just bugs me that companies like mine and Embies (et al) are "going green" yet what happens to all the dollars that are saved? Does it get reinvested into local environmental projects? Does it even go back to the employees who are asked to make the changes to cut energy consumption? Sadly it more often goes in the pockets of the executives as bonuses on a job well done.
Disappointing.
On a ridiculus note. We have changed to a high recycled content paper for our printers and copiers. It is so thin and cheap that it jams, smears and tears. Now we have quite a bit more consumption of paper not including the investment of time while someone has to go back to their computer and reprint a job/ unjam the copier. Net savings??? NOPE!!!

How about all the Walmart ads that show if every one of the 200 million Walmart shoppers bought just one...whatever... Oh yeah, and tell me Walmart doesn't make a huge profit from that????

You're right about that, but I think part of the issue is the savings we get on our utilities, not to mention the reduction in CO and CO2 from reduced consumption.

I know you're right, and yesterday's Mother's Day message at church was about using discernment when it comes to your children's future. As mom's we want to keep them close and protected, but the greatest gift we can receive as parents is to see our children, independent of us, serving the Lord, and I have always agreed with that. The fact that Rachel has decided on her own to break free from a secular college to move to a Christian one that is more in line with her goals makes me thankful. She will be majoring in finance but minoring in youth ministry. I know the Lord has huge plans for her willing heart. \0/ (however, that does mean I have to cut the apron strings... )

Yup, our children are weapons against the enemy and they cannot be effective unless we loose them!

We're about to drive halfway across Texas on $3.60 gas I'm headed now to renew my driver's license - I couldn't get my hair cut appointment moved up so now I have to get my picture taken that's supposed to last 8 years or whatever with Bozo hair I am hoping to get the vision restriction taken off this time tho - I haven't renewed since my lasik surgery ~5 years ago

I can buy a used VW Golf TDI (diesel) and make the payments off of the fuel savings versus driving my truck every day.....
