Holidays are stressful, people are on edge all over

Spent all evening connecting a stereo, only to find the left main speaker connection on the reciever doesn't work. It's one of those all-in-one home theater-in-a-box type things, so I imagine I have to pack the whole thing back up to get that one piece fixed

Depending on where ya bought it they may just swap the faulty part and send it back with the rest of another one. Give 'em a call.

Hopefully the Circuit City staff didn't attend the same Customer Service School that your favorite peeps from Target went to!

it started working today for some reason

that could be it. I've read that some audio/video equipment works better after a 'break-in' period - tho I haven't heard of going from not-working to working

my notebook computer is dieing again... I thought it was the hard drive, but apparently it's the motherboard cuz this hard drive is dieing too

Bummer. Sounds like the trouble I have had at the house. Put a brand new 40gb hard drive in loaded the linux on it and then the motherboard goes pffffft I can't complain though the 'puter is like six years old and haven't had any real problems with it til now.

I am pricing out "peicing together" a new on since I already have a hard drive and a almost new cd burner. I found pretty good deal at TigerDirect for a bare-bones case/motherboard

ps... I've been drooling over those arstechnica pages for a year+ now... my old computer here (a 7+ year old server) stil works, so I'm balking at getting something... too many things to spend money on, not enough to spread around

I can't justify that kind of cost though. I think I can escape with that case combo and a low end P4 chip (2.2ghz) memory, video, etctera for less than $300.
