Some of the best things in life are free...

a long run at dusk;

last night's triple rainbow;

gorgeous sunny breezy days;

watching hot air balloons take off;

finding perrenials you didn't know you had;

throwing the football in the back yard;

butterflies and hummingbirds in flight;

the smiles on my children's faces

having your seat belt fastened at a holiday police stop.

Some of the best things in life are almost free:

batting cages and go carts;

grilling out and corn on the cob;

renting a family video;

nachos, guacamole and salsa;

It's been a good couple days...

Nothing is better than freshly laundered sheets... I added a mattress pad last night too... really didn't wanna get up this morning

I love sheets when they dry outside and then they smell like the wind...I LOVE that...

I've learned some new things the last couple dayz:

I adore percussion...

Clapping makes me happy

I watch tv, read a book, or listen to music before I go to bed.

Every weekend, I pick out a disney movie and watch half of it.

Before I go to bed, I get a glass of water to put on my nightstand, but never drink it.

I'm on the computer nearly 5 hours every day.

I haven't missed my daily shower in as long as I can remember.

I manufacture so many boogers--but never have tissues. It's not an uncommon thing to hear someone say "Hey, Ashley, what's that massive thing hanging out of your nose?" I'm not embarrassed by it anymore. I think I've grown ammune.

Every day I tell myself "Today I'm gonna tell 'em I quit."

Whenever I go to McDonalds, I mix diet coke and regular coke together. When I'm at Taco Bell, I mix Code Red Mt. Dew and Sprite. When I'm at burgerking, I drink tea.

I won't drink a coke out of a can. I hate metal in my mouth.

I like the smell of puppy breath.

A woman's summer wardrobe is not complete without a tube top in every color...

i let my dog lick me in the face and sleep on top of me, but i wont let anyone sit too close to me, kiss me or "mess" with me .. issues maybe ??

i have to sleep really cold but dont get too hot during the day when i am moving around

i get very irritated when people sing the wrong words to songs, i HAVE to correct them, same goes for correcting the pronunciation of words

i have to sleep under my own blanket, which is a comforter from my childhood, i sleep with it wadded up by my face and my feet stick out

i cant sleep with my hair down, it has to be up in a bun, which is my new "look"

i cant seem to make myself like to wear makeup, no matter how new or cool it is, it always comes off halfway thru the day, i absolutely hate it

i am absolutely phobic about going outside with a fever blister but will dress so down it will actually attract attention on other days, go figure.

i admit to being impressionable

i am afraid of people who sleep with knives ... hehe ashley

did I mention I hate losing? I think it depends tho on the amount of effort I put into whatever the activity is. If it's checkers, no biggie.. I'll play another game. If it's something I spend hours working on, and I know we have the better team...

Losing is never fun and you're right...the higher the stakes, the greater the effort, the bigger the disappointment. No getting around that...

Gotta put it all in perspective tho...at the end of the day...you still get to go to Heaven

This year's vacation away from the comforts that we are used to made me painfully aware of the things I take for granted.

The island we stayed on boasts of a couple of crafts shacks sharing local work and a few full service restaurants that serve larger menus. But for the most part it was very small, very beautiful, very low key, very restful...except when you have a 12 and 13 year old that are so Americanized that they were ready to chuck the natural surroundings for the mall by mid-week.

I also found out a little more about me...I discovered that no matter how much of a dare devil risk-taker I was/am, all bets are off when it comes to my kids. The ocean and cliffs left me hyperventilating when they ventured out of range. The mist that rolled in without a second's notice surrounded us on the wharf while my son was fishing caused so much commotion that I had to pull them back away from the edge...It was gray and foggy and the tide was out so it was a good 15 foot drop into the sea. I was nutz! I think most of the reason for that was that just the day before my kids were pretending to drown and I was "rescuing" them. In my younger days I had m life guard's certificate. But I was hard pressed to "save" my son. I think the thought of him falling and me not being able to help him was what got me bonkers.

Those are just some not so good things that I have come to realize

Oh, and...I am right now squirting whipped cream into my hand and eating it while I wait for my Lean Cuisine to cook... ROFL!

lemme see.... when I play softball I play until completely exhausted, even on routine plays/innings. I am paralyzed with exhaustion when the game/practice is over for 20-30 minutes, and have to sit in the dugout until forced to leave
