He seems like a nice kid, but unless something changes, he isn't going to do any more than sing at coffee houses after the tour... he's getting by on the pre-teen girl (and their mothers) vote and will be this years Sanjaya should he make top 5. No way he's more talented or more charismatic than Michael Johns. He won't sell 10% of the music Michael will.

Jason may not have the talent to be the American Idol, but he is in no way comparable to Sanjaya. Maybe in terms of a "teenie-bopper" following, but not at all in character. Sanjaya sported those crazy hairdoos to make a spectical of himself, and it was a joke. Obviously Jason had dredlocks long before he thought about AI. And he is so quiet and humble. I don't think there's anything showy or conceited about him. I think he gets more embarrassed than anything else.

I've not purchased any of the Idols recordings although I do like hearing Kelly and Carrie on the radio. I did go to the Idol tour during the Carrie and Bo Bice year, and that was fun, but not had the desire to buy any music.

I replayed the AI start from Thursday night a few times (the "Shout to the Lord" song part) - they all did excellent, but did you hear David C on that song? He had an alternative melody part when they started walking off the stage - he held out several notes that I didn't know he had in him. Amazing. I knew he was a performer, but hadn't heard that kinda sound from him yet.

Top 2 should be, in a logical world, in which talent is the determining factor, between him and Carly. We'll see.

I thought the spirituality of it was diminished because the Mormons were singing about a different Jesus than everybody else.
