Oh dear... I love Brooke, but I didn't think she did that great tonight... David A was great, but I didn't like Carly or Syesha either...

I've only seen Syesha Brooke and Kristi so far -
Syesha - very good - should be safe this week
Brooke - not so good, she's slipped in the last couple weeks
Kristi - amazingly good, for Kristi - she should be safe this week

David A - just ok to me. He's got a good voice, but it's not star material. Maybe he can have a career like John Mayer, Josh Groban or similar who has a popular song once in a while. He won't have an album of hit songs.

David C - they LOVED it, I just thought it was ok - yes, it was daring, but I'd never actually buy that song and would choose any of the others if one was available for free.
Jason Castro - was typical Jason - better than David C, but still weak and nasal. He would probably do well with Maroon 5 songs.

Top 3 - Syesha, Carly and Kristy
Bottom 3 - Brooke, David C, and Jason
Going home - Brooke
(based on a combo of tonight's performance and how people tend to vote)

alright. My take on the nite. David A. - good job. The problem I have with David s lack of dynamics. WHile he sings so well and has a beautiful tone -he never gets whispery or quiet or then just blows it out. It's like he sings nice runs and all but no loud and soft...
Syesha- she was hot. Great emotion and technical skills. She did fab in my opinion, but I really like her too.
CArly - she is disappointing me. Such talent and then such average performances. ugh.
Kristy - safe and good job actually. she has gotten lucky in being able to choose something she could arrange a little bit country last few weeks. gotta give her props for stepping it up.
David c - was AWESOME. yes, he was original, IDENTIFIABLE, great stage presence, sang his butt off and no one will forget him. THniking back over last several weeks, He has done- Always be my baby, Innocent, Billie Jean, and a couple others that really stand out. I think he could actually win , if it were a straigt up contest - not just popularity.
Jason - whatever. I still dont think much of his singing ability. Now he has defined himself as something less than an a American Idol. He is just okay, never blows it out cause he cant.
Brooke - bless her heart, she is now just out of her league. Just love her her but she is not AI material. I think AMerica loves her too, which is why she is still around, but clearly not for singing ablility.
this week, good bye carly / brooke.

David C.'s take on "Always be my Baby" made it into a song sung by a stalker on the voicemail of their target.
I liked it.
Brooke, is an awesome singer, but stylistically (is that a word) she is not a diva singer. She's a Tori Amos, Norah Jones, Carly Simon type singer and that doesn't play on AI. Everyone wants to hear the "money notes" out of the ladies, and Brooke doesn't have any of those. If she hadn't accompanied herself she'd have been okay but she let the piano run away with the tempo when she got nervous and had a tough time keeping up vocally. That being said, of all these contestants, Brooke and David C, would put on the best show as a solo artist.
David A - definitely a groban type performer, which is quite good one song at a time, but a whole show? never.
Carly is not charismatic on stage and a couple hours of Carly would be very dull as a solo act
KLC - she kind of sucks, very whiny voice, moves awkwardly and makes silly faces. I imagine if she was scantily clad enough that she could sell out a show.
Syesha - is a serviceable singer, but not good enough to blow you away with power note after power note to sustain a solo act.
Jason - He could definitely play as a solo artist but with more of a Dave Matthews vibe and backing.
David C would put on an awesome show
Brooke would similarly put on an awesome show, just different than David C's.

I'm happy that Brooke made it through, but I honestly thought Kristy did a better job Tuesday night. I got a little panicky when Jason started the group separate from David Cook. Do you think that Ryan actually has that much creative control? I think it's all decided already by the AI heads and he just goes through the motions. Allen, maybe some of those bitter country folk were at Lake Wineola learning to shoot like Hillary.
