I bought a Men's Study Bible for my "boyfriend" two years ago. It was recently lost or stolen. How is this a "yeeeehaaa" moment, you may say? Well, I'll tell you. We went Bible shopping together last night and he got all excited because he found a Bible with a sailboat on it that happened to be his favorite translation, the NIV. He was initially torn between his old Men's Devotional NIV and his new Study NIV with the sailboat (by the way we are the proud owners of a 25ft Catalina which is why the fascination with sailboats). Anyway, a thought occured to me that maybe I could find a small Zondervan's Men's Devotional book with most of the devotions taken straight out of his Zondervan's Men's Devotional Bible. And I did! So now he has a little book of men's devotionals (which is why he liked the old Bible so well) and a new Study Bible with the sailboats. He's all excited about reading now, and he remembered before I did this morning to pull out his new devotional. YYYYYYEEEEEEEEEHAAA.

just a little thought to pass on. love you all and best wishes for the holidays.
Heavenly Father, Help us remember that the jerk who cut us off in traffic last night is a single mother who worked nine hours that day and is rushing home to cook dinner, help with homework, do the laundry and spend a few precious moments with her children.
Help us to remember that the pierced, tattooed, disinterested young man who can't make change correctly is a worried 19-year-old college student, balancing his apprehension over final exams with his fear of not getting his student loans for next semester.
Remind us, Lord, that the scary looking bum, begging for money in the same spot every day (who really ought to get a job!) is a slave to addictions that we can only imagine in our worst nightmares.
Help us to remember that the old couple walking annoyingly slow through the store aisles and blocking our shopping progress are savoring this moment, knowing that, based on the biopsy report she got back last week, this will be the last year that they go shopping together.
Heavenly Father, remind us each day that, of all the gifts you give us, the greatest gift is love. It is not enough to share that love with those we hold dear. Open our hearts not to just those who are close to us, but to all humanity. Let us be slow to judge and quick to forgive, show patience, empathy and love.

gotta love those locksmiths. try popalock[purple hearse looking car], he charged only 20 bucks. luckily was at bank and just cashed a check. money was for car insurance payment, not due yet-thank God for these favors. phoned best bud at time, he offered to call a cab for me[he was at work]. he has a new life now. [not necessarily good]funny how people enter your life for a short time to help you.

I was asked to join a little "think tank" group that helps the pastor come up with new ideas (over at Praise)...he says I always have insightful answers. I was also asked to join the choir. I'm really excited but very nervous. This is the first time I've actually taken an opportunity in a very long time to be able to use some of my God-given gifts. It's kinda scary, but it's worth a yeehhhaaa...Thanks, God for the big opportunity. I'll try to do you proud.
