Please pray for the family and friends of a young teen named Patrick. He went home to the Lord unexpectedly Friday night at a youth event called "Superbowl".
Every year our church would partner with New England churches and all the youth groups would get together for a Lock in of sorts. It would begin at 6pm with at a semi-pro hockey game, then about 11:00 would move in to an open gym with all those crazy inflatables, basketball, etc and then at 4 am, they would go to moonlight bowling and finish about 7am the next morning.
This was Luke and Carissa's first time leading their own youth group. Luke grew up in our church and when they got married this year, Luke took the youth leader's spot at Carissa's church in RI.
After the hockey game they have raffles and Patrick won the grand prize; it was a Nintendo Wii and he had always wanted one. When they called his name, everyone began screaming and clapping and he was thrilled. He ran down to the ice to get his prize, but before he could get there, he collapsed. No one knew what was wrong and Luke went down and went with him in the ambulance. Carissa and the youth group went on to the next event thinking he got injured on the ice somehow. Patrick had actually suffered a heart attack and he died on the way to the hospital.
Please pray for Luke and Carissa as they prepare to work through the hard questions with the youth group and also for Patrick's family as they face this most difficult trial.
But isn't God so awesome though? He let Patrick be the happiest he had ever been in this life before He brought him into the next. Thank you Jesus for Your love and faithfulness. \0/
