My Pastor's message concerned Luke 21.
The Return of Christ 25"There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, 26men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
I don't think that Al Gore has fainted yet, but do you think that the whole idea of Global Warming and the seas taking over our land masses is what is prophesied here in "the roaring of the sea and the waves"?

Al Gore aside...........
I would not call global warming anything more than proven natural heating and cooling cycles of this planet. There have been ferns the size of houses as far north as the dakotas because of the warmth.

I've been really interested in this and have spent some time surfing and reading and I'm not so sure we can be that cavalier about it. I think there's more going on that needs further study. In Matt 24:7, older versions of the bible include the word pestilences as a part of the trouble coming in the end times. You know me and I'm not the placard wearing "The end is near" kind of person, but I found this fact that I think is really interesting, (altho frightening). I can very easily relate this to that scripture: "After El Nino the increase in temperatures in the Antarctic resulted in viral infections among the sea lion population. Something like 11,000 sea lions died from viral infections from the warming sea. What would that be? Scientists are now saying that there are viruses we have never encountered before, locked in the ice sheafs that are now being released. So we are going to encounter viruses thousands of years old and we will not be able to deal with them." What do you think?

Be very careful where you get your information while surfing. I believe the rapture and the Lords return is near. The events we see unfolding all around are very possibly the "signs of the times". Lets say the earth is headed for disaster. Your line question (your is being used as generic)indicates you already have an idea that there is a God, and End, and something Beyond. If it is true that one beileves in God and an eternity with Him, then shouldn't our concerns be on eternal matters? These events in the world around us, both in nature and humanity, are like the calls from the cryer riding before (ahead of) the King announcing is arrival - "Ready yourselves, Prepare for the King"! Im not sold on the issue of Global Warming. I am sold on the issue of the returning King! Hope I didnt go too far. jess

Absolutely, the focus should be on eternal things and that is my reason for this thread. If one does not recognize that this in fact could be the "beginning of the end" one might think there is plenty of time to get right with God. I've decided to live my life as if Jesus is coming back tomorrow. The bible tells us life will be going on as usual, there will be no indication that the rapture is at hand. Luke 17:27-29 27People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all. 28"It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. 29But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. Lots of people are fearful of the events happening in nature. I'm just trying to relate them to the bible and point people in the right direction.

i think we are one or two giant catastrophes away from an emerging leader- world wide even. global warming shlobal shwarming...whatever. there is nothing man is or isnt doing to make this happen. and if so it is a NATURAL progression. So be it. for man to actually think ha has the power and ability to change the atmosphere around the world is so arrogant. plus the fact we dont have a clue what temps were on a regular basis even 3-4 hundred years agao to be able to track it. and these asame scientists claim the world is billions of years old- yet we can wreck it with our gases and suv's....how do they not know this weather pattern happens every 400 years on earth??? or every 300th new moon or every 25 el nino? they dont. Now as a christian i believe in responsibility and taking care of what is GOd's. But he has given us dominion with responsibility. i rant, there for i stop...

I love Conn. My brother lived in Bristol. Your right, we arent given a definate time to prepare for however we are given definable signs to tell us that the event is near. A study of eschatology is interesting and very encouraging. To anyone interested I would suggest using the book - "Things to Come" by Dwight Pentecost. Encouragement can be found in the refrences you p rovided in that, in both cases people obeyed and were delivered before the catastrophic events. jesse

Bristol was one town over from where I grew up in Wolcott. If you ask your bro, he will know it. Nabster...I think you meant to say "I rant therefore I am... NAB!" Love ya brutha... (I agree that man can't nature's progression...I just think there is relativity in what's occurring now and what the bible said was to come.)

I will however say, I lean on the side of "yes we are in the end time age." I firmly believe it. European union, wars , pestilence, famine, aids, earthquakes, hurricanes, political unrest in the middle east as never before. Israel in 1948, becoming a nation. Muslims, steppping up their fight against "christian america". The mainstream media, incrementally preparing non christians to hate christianity and it's people. Tolerance of world religions except christianity. Removal of God from mainstream america (as best they can). Never before in history has World wide media been so quick, never before has information increased as rapidly as it does today. The signs are here, and the seasons...I dont know. I do know Christ could come any day. If you are reading this...are you ready to meet God and stand in judgement for your life? Did you deny Christ when given the opportunity?
You are accountable. The good news is Jesus will accept you always. At a moments notice. WIthout hesitation, but with open arms. Completely and without condemnation. No matter your past. Period. He loves you and He loves you like no one else. Nab

That is right. But you may ask why do we believe the bible, and its signals for recognizing the times before our Lords return? Because it has been so credible and its source is credible and has proven that from the beginnig of time. This world is going to end, yet most believers or followers of Christ aren't alarmed. Our HOPE (not as something longed for but rather as for somethingly assuredly expected) is for the moment God takes us out of this world and says, Times Up. Why would a "God of Love" say Times Up? Because he is absolutely just and has to judge sin. Since the start He has said I Love You, and provided a way remove the penalty from manr man and man rejected. Over and over again this is shown in the historical accounts of nations...God said I Love You, Love me back and man rejected. God provided the ultimate sign of his love, on a cross where he paid for all our sin by enduring death for us. Man rejected. He sealed and confirmed His promise by raising again, proving he has the power over death, and there by, has the power to give life, new life. He said I love you and still man rejects. To you he says - I love you. His promise is that He will NOT allways wait and that He is going to judge this world. Im not going to be here when He does. Today is the day to make up your mind.
Nabster - Good job.

San Antonio. I like him, and His theology is dispensational. I think this is a subject so many stay away from, however is we are to defend our faith, as we are told to do, we need to know what we believe and why and why our faith is credible. The best, most informative text I have found is "Things to Come" by Dwight Penticost. Its not a quick read. It is a systematic study of eschatology.
I would really like to meet john hagee. He can sing pretty well also.
