Embie - twisted - definitely. Do you really think that eternal pregnancy would constitute a reward in the afterlife - sounds more like a punishment. The twist comes from the idea that we believe that we can become like God in the afterlife. As such we can create and populate worlds with our own spirit-children. I think it's short sighted to believe that the creation of spirit children is the exact same as the creation of regular kiddos in the physical world - after all we're talking about spirits. Mormon running for President. I think it's a great idea. We already have Harry Reid in Congress, Orrin Hatch is a bit of a nutjob, but Mitt Romney is the real deal. I'm excited about him as a candidate aside from his Mormon background. If anyone wants to contribute to the campaign go to www.MittRomney.comWas anything in Basketball ever more perfect than Stockton - Malone? It's actually with mixed feelings that I watch the Jazz in their current playoff run. I'm happy to see my team do well, but I'm just not sure if they are my team anymore.

Jordan-Pippen? Johnson-Jabbar? Stockton-Malone was great - there were several duo's that accomplished more when playing with the team

You don't even know who I was talking about Your earlier question wasn't about eternal pregnancy, you said " their hope/goal is to live eternally continuously having spiritual children." I think your statement was twisted slightly to assume you meant a human-like pregnancy - we probably hatch them like eggs 2-3 at a time every day; even the guys will get to take part in the afterlife

Jordan Pippen weren't as much of a tandem as they were two incredible individual players. It's not as though they played off each other the way that Stockton and Malone did. Of course they did beat Stockton and Malone.
Johnson - Jabbar, The best Jazz team ever (1988) took Johnson and Jabbar to a game 7. The problem was that Johnson and Jabbar weren't just Johnson and Jabbar, they were Byron Scott, Michael Cooper and James Worthy. Will any of those guys not end up in the Hall of Fame? How many other Hall of Famers did Stockton and Malone have? ------- 0.
Point being, Stockton to Malone - greatest tandem ever!

Joel said it, I just accidently quoted it Point being, Stockton to Malone - greatest tandem ever!
Perhaps It takes 5 to win tho, had they been *that* great maybe they could have spread it around to their team a little more - the difference between John Stockton and Magic Johnson, Oscar Robertson and Bob Cousy. Had there been no johnson-jabbar, we wouldn't be talking/remembering byron scott, james worthy or cooper - they were good enough to lift the rest of the team. Bryant-O'Neal - probably be the best tandem for those few years they were together - ever.

The same could be said of many players over the years - Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

I saw a stat the other night about how many more years Jason Kidd and Steve Nash would have to play in order to catch Stockton's all-time assists record. It would Take Steve Nash over 10 years and Jason Kidd something like 14 years.
He did in fact make everyone around him better. There is a long list of former Jazz players who played with Stockton and did very well only to sign as a free agent elsewhere and not ever achieve what they achieved with the Jazz and John Stockton. Most recently and recognizably we're talking about Shandon Anderson and Bryon Russel.
In bigger news. I've got this really bad left knee. It's been reconstructed once due to a torn ACL. That was a few years ago.
Well the other day, I tore some cartilege in the same knee. The exciting part about all this is who my new Doctor is. On Wednesday next week, I'll be going to see Doctor Eric Heiden.
Does the name sound familiar? Well it should because in the 1980 Winter Games he won the gold medal in all five speed skating events.
I'm kind of excited.
He also fluent in Norwegian and so am I so it should be a good time.

Cool, maybe if Stockton would see you your knee would be better too Stockton played forever, that helps his stats a bit - but why isn't he in the hall of fame?

You have to wait, I think five years before you can be on the ballot for the Hall of Fame. He retired in 2003 so we haven't reached the point of eligibility yet.
Additionally Karl Malone played for one more season and most folks around here think that Stockton and Malone should be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the same time so Stockton might pass on his first year of eligibility so that He and Karl can go in together.
He did play forever, but he broke the record in 1995, That's after only 10 years in league, the fact that he could still play at a supremely high level for another 9 years shouldn't detract from his accomplishments, but rather should highlight them further.
Additionally, most folks forget that Stockton also holds the all-time steals record as well, which he broke in 1996.
What makes all of this more impressive is that he wasn't playing starters minutes for his first two seasons, He was a backup to Ricky Green.
What makes it more impressive still is that the person who held the all-time assists record was Magic Johnson, he came into the league in 1980 and retired in 1992. He also played starters minutes the entire 12 years. So basically we have Stockton passing Magic in 10 years.
The current number two on the all-time assists list is Mark Jackson, it took him about 15 or 16 years to pass Magic.
I loves the Jazz

No Mormons on the team.
The owner is Mormon - he doesn't attend home games on Sundays.
We do have a player from BYU, but I don't believe he's LDS.

I saw an interview with Matt Louer and Mitt Romney this morning.
I like Mitt. He doesn't seem to think it matters to the American people what church he attends. Matt thought it would be a big problem for Evangelical Protestants.
Do you think Mitt's just saying that or do you think he really believes it isn't an issue?
