Just read a great article on CNN that made my day shine up. Supposedly modesty is coming back in style! In my mind, modesty is always in fashion, but now it seems like the experts are actually conforming. I personally think that the fashions of today are corrupt, and, frankly, partially inspired of from the devil. Anybody else think there's far to much skin on the streets?

I think the same can be said of guys!!

hey I think people should wear what they're comfortable wearing...I don't dress to please anybody but myself...I'm even comfortable in my skin!!!

lol was that a play on words there...the brotha part there....ummmm....need to do more than just one button...maybe a chastity belt

and ummmm so is honesty a virtue too....and when it comes to that...the brotha be lacking

When I say modesty I mean guys and girls. Can't expect a girl to be modest if a guy isn't also.

That's an easy cop-out

Girls cover less, wear a lot less, and wear tighter clothing than guys in most instances. Even the 'good church-going' girls... I see more tight jeans/ shirts with skin in between on a Sunday morning than any other day of the week

I agree on a lot of the points so far.


There has been a shift in imagery in the last ten-fifteen years where the ladies want to appear "Sexy" versus "Pretty" when they go out in public. Married, single and even as young as 10-12 they talk about and wear little shirts that say "sexy" on them.

I think there is a gap in "mentoring" that is happening. I could probably trace it back to the come uppance of organizations like "N.O.W." While empowering women is a good thing, losing the ability, grace, modesty and desire of women to be "Ladies" is a great tragedy.

Men are easy. Most of these "sexy outfits" make you ladies so scantily clad or tightly clothed that your clothing is simply a mere distraction to our overactive hormones imagining you in your birthday suit. It truly is that simple. And yes, sadly, that is our objective when men look at women (in general). I know that you think we are admiring the cut of your new blouse or how you found just the right size to acentuate your positive atributes and downplay the negative ones but we simply can't get past our hormones....

I read someone say upthread that they thought men dress to sexy. That is certainly not an issue for me but I was wondering what it was the men do that is too over the top. (Barring the open front leisure suit with butterfly collar and three gold rope chains... )

women are thought of as the alpha instagator when it comes to lust.....or other things....but as for me...i dress moderatly and i just cant keep em away though....lol

My wife finds me most sexy when I'm wearing a three-piece suit with a white shirt and necktie. Is that immodest? Hardly.

Some things are just wrong in attire. Might not modest or immodest clothing be as varied as the people on earth? Using Joel's example. Of course I don't suppose any of us would automatically think of a three piece being immodest or even sexy. But to some people it might be. Is the topic of this thread really modesty or turnons? Actually some of the "wrong attire" I eluded to although immodest and probably meant to be a turn on may infact still be immodest but a real turn off. Make any sense? Could any of us ever be sure what we were wearing wasn't a turn on to someone?

Exactly.... Many women find a male in a military uniform sexy, tho no-one would argue that he isn't dressed modestly. To a teenage boy (or most any male over 10 ) a sweat suit, burlap bag, old t-shirt, etc. can be a turn-on You can't help what you wear if it's a turn-on, but you can help if you dress modestly.
