Long, but a good thot for the day

The Alphabet Prayer

A little shepherd boy was watching his sheep one Sunday morning and he heard the bells of the church ringing. As he watched the people walk along the pasture where he was, he happened to think to himself, "I would like to communicate with God! But, what can I say to God?" He had never learned a prayer.

So, on bended knee, he began to recite the alphabet. Repeating this prayer several times, a man passing by, heard the boy's voice and peaked through the bushes. He saw the young boy kneeling with folded hands, eyes closed, repeating the alphabet.

He interrupted the boy. "What are you doing, my little one?" he asked.

The boy replied, "I was praying sir." The man seemed surprised and said, "But why are you reciting the alphabet?" The boy explained, "I don't know any prayers, sir. But I want God to take care of me, and to help me care for my sheep. And so I thought, if I said all I knew, He could put the letters together into words, and He would know all that I want and should say!"

The man smiled and said, "Bless your heart, God will!" And he went on to church knowing full well that he had heard the finest sermon he could possibly hear that day.

The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a courthouse. You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery" and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians - it creates a hostile work environment.

Five tips for a woman....
1. It is important that a man helps you around the house and has a job.
2. It is important that a man makes you laugh.
3. It is important to find a man you can count on and doesn't lie to you.
4. It is important that a man loves you and spoils you.
5. It is important that these four men don't know each other.

Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, Are you going to leave, too?
Simon Peter replied, Lord, to whom would we go? You alone have the word that gives eternal life. We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God. (John 6:67-69)

Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, Are you going to leave, too? Awhile ago I received an email from a sister in Christ who was going through hard times and felt like running away from the Lord. She was very weary from all the trails and tribulations of living a Christian Life. She stated to me that she wanted to run away from everything, even the Lord. So, I told her to run, run as fast as she can and when you get to the place where the Lord cant reach you then you are where you want to be. But I know that I would never want to be in the place where the Lord could not reach me. Peter says, Lord, to whom would we go? You alone have the word that gives eternal life. To whom shall you run to? Where else can you go to find the word that gives eternal life? Living at the standards of the Lord comes at price; Sin is for free, but righteousness comes at a cost.

Beloved, God knows the pain and sacrifice you make in his name. That is why the Lord declares that by his Name, you shall receive victory. Believe that all your hard work for the Lord is not in vain. We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God. Let this be your words that you speak forth in your life. Believe that Jesus is the Holy one of God, stand upon his Promise. So whenever you feel like running away, know that you are running into the arms of Jesus.

In southern churches you will hear the hymn, "All Glory, Laud and Honor". You will also hear expressions such as, "Laud, Have mercy", "Good Laud", and "Laudy, Laudy, Laudy".
