I am gonna start this thread cuz some movies really don't need their own. I'll add to it as I see'um, please do so as well. smile

What: Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever
Rated: R - violence and some profanity
Actors: Lucy Liu ruff and Antonio Banderas rolleyes
Plot Outline: Tasked with destroying each other, an FBI agent and a rogue NSA agent soon discover that there's a much bigger enemy at work.
Review: OK for a guy movie, fairly predictable tho. People that shoulda died a few times from some explosions got up, shook their head a couple times, and kept going - that upped the cheeze factor 2-3 points. It also suffers from what most all martial arts-infused movies suffer from - the whole bad-guys-line-up-and-take-their-turn-to-get-their-butts-kicked-by-the-star - cheeze +1.
Favorite Line: As Sever (Liu) is grabbing all these high-power rifles, machine guns, and grenade launchers from her "gun cabinet" Ecks (Banderas) asked: "Where did you get all those ordinants?" Liu: "Some girls like to buy shoes..."
Rating: 5 (out of 10) - doesn't byte, but go to a matinee

What: I-Spy
Rated: PG-13 - some profanity
Actors: Owen Wilson and Eddie Murphy
Plot Outline: Loosely based on the late-1960s TV show, I Spy is about a CIA agent (Owen Wilson) whose latest assignment is to recover the Air Force's newest weapon: a stealth bomber. His partner on the case is a professional boxer (Eddie Murphy) who has entered the agency against his will. The mismatched pals verbally jab at each other from the moment they begin playing the spy game, but can they stop sparring long enough to save the free world?
Review: Saw this one yestrday afternoon while my parents hit the outlet mall. Most of the theater was full, not too bad for a matinee crowd smile Classic Eddie Murphy and Owen Wilson - they never stretch too far in their characters and this was no exception. Parts were very funny and the action scenes were pretty good as well. The sideline story of the envy between 2 spies (Owen and 'Carlos') was good and the love-interest with the female spy had its moments as well ruff
Favorite Line: Owen Wilson wooing the girl by reciting the lines from Marvin Gaye's 'Sexual Healing' song - you got to see it to understand laugh
Rating: 7 (out of 10) - very funny, dialogue/storyline could have been better at times

What: Phonebooth

Rated: R - some violence, lots of profanity

Actors: : Colin Farrell, Forest Whitaker, Kiefer Sutherland

Plot Outline: In this intense drama, which takes place in and around a single phone booth in New York City, a man who is being watched by a rooftop killer with a sniper rifle must use the phone to save his life or else risk the consequences of leaving the booth.

Review: This movie (shot in 10 days on one set) moves along at a good pace even tho 90%+ of the movie takes place inside a 2 foot by 2 foot phone booth. A little less than an hour and a half long, you're on the edge of your seat pretty much the whole time eek Lots of F-bombs, don't bring the kids. smile

Favorite Line: I can't say the funniest line (involves an injured hand laugh )
The Caller: You're in this position because you are not telling the truth.
Stu Shepard: I'm in this position because YOU HAVE A GUN!!

Rating: 8 (out of 10) - very intense and suspenseful

What: The Matrix - Reloaded

Rated: R - violence, profanity, one partially-nude sex scene

Actors: : Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Laurence Fishburne

Plot Outline: Neo and the rebel leaders estimate that they have 72 hours until 250,000 probes discover Zion and destroy it and its inhabitants. During this, Neo must decide how he can save Trinity from a dark fate in his dreams.

Review: If you are a bit lost, you're not alone smile For a refresher course on the main points regarding the first 2 of the 3 part series, check out this site . The dialogue is too full of self-important blah blah blah... it's confusing because they never answer questions directly - it's usually another question, or a couple paragraphs of 'you are here because you are supposed to be here' and 'our purpose is to fulfill our purpose' - type double or triple-speak. The special effects are crazy good tho laugh

Rated R for language, violence, and a little partial nudity, don't bring the kids.

Favorite Line: (Neo has just battled a hundred or so copies of Mr. Smith)
Neo: He's found a way to copy himself.
Morpheus: So now there's more of him?
Neo: ... Lots more.

Rating: 6.5 (out of 10) - nice evolution in special efx, so-so dialogue, 20 minutes of commercials and trailers before the movie started and the longest set of credits I've ever seen at the end... there's a trailer for the upcoming part 3 at the end smile

Really wanted to see that one, but Billy's outta town and I swore I wouldn't see it without him. Saw phonebooth...it was okay. I recommend IDENTITY. Very intense.

I don't feel like doing a whole review, but my favorite line:
"What's your name?"
"Paris."
"Never been."
"Well you're not going there tonight!"

Anybody going to see a movie tomorrow??? I'm lonely and bored.

What: Bruce Almighty

Rated: PG-13

Actors: : Jim Carrey, Jennifer Aniston, Morgan Freeman

Plot Outline: Bruce Almighty stars Jim Carrey as Bruce Nolan, a “human interest” television reporter in Buffalo, New York who is discontented with almost everything in life, despite his popularity and the love of his girlfriend Grace (Jennifer Aniston). At the end of the worst day in his life, Bruce angrily ridicules and rages against God – and God responds. He appears in human form (Morgan Freeman) and, endowing Bruce with all of His divine powers, challenges Bruce to take on the big job and see if he can do it any better.

Review: When I went to the movie tonight, I had a bad feeling that this one might be sacriligious at least, if not downright blasphemous - I was wrong on both counts. Jim does his usual slapstick physical humor, but has a couple scenes of great drama. What could have been sacriligious turned into a great movie of forgiveness, surrendering self to God, care for our fellow man, and faith, hope, and love. I won't give it all away, but if you haven't figured it out yet, this movie is highly recommended thumbsup

Rated PG-13 for language, sexual content and some crude humor, don't bring the small kids.

Favorite Line: Bruce has finally decided there's more to life than Bruce:
"OK! You're right! I give up! I surrender!"

Rating: 8.7 (out of 10) - Funny and dramatic. Woulda scored higher if they hadn't killed some enthusiasm with their blanketing of the TV with commercial after commercial. smile

What: The Italian Job

Rated: PG-13

Actors: : Mark Wahlberg, Edward Norton, Charlize Theron, Seth Green, Mos Def, Jason Statham

Plot Outline: Based on a 1969 Michael Caine film of the same name, a gang of robbers, lead by career criminal Charlie Croker (Mark Wahlberg), create the largest traffic jam in Los Angeles history, giving them time to pull off a theft of gold bullion. They get away in their Mini Coopers, which are small enough to drive on sidewalks and subways so they can make a clean get away before the traffic jam clears.

Review: If you're a fan of car chases like in 'the bourne identity' and 'the transporter', bank and vault heists like in 'the score', and remakes of old movies of the same type like in 'oceans eleven', you'll love the action and drama that can be found here. Nicely paced with smart dialogue, it makes for a fun afternoon out of the hot sun thumbsup

Rated PG-13 for language and some violence, don't bring the small kids.

Favorite Line: "I trust people, it's the devil inside them I don't trust" tongue

Rating: 7.7 (out of 10) - Lots of action, some suspense, and not enough Charlize Theron eek

X-Men 2 was awesome. (I know this has probably been reviewed already.) Good story...lots of action. I wouldnt recommend it for kids due to some of the language and a brief nude scene. (It is a "blink and you'll miss it" scene, but it is there) It was better than the first one.

What: The Hulk

Rated: PG-13

Actors: : Eric Bana, Jennifer Connelly, Sam Elliott, Josh Lucas, Nick Nolte

Plot Outline: A geneticist's experimental accident curses him with the tendency to become a powerful giant green brute under emotional stress.

Review: Went to the late feature tonight (10:50pm), and still the theater was populated with little ankle-biters everywhere. smash Not to worry, about halfway through the 2 hour movie several had lost interest and pestered their parents until they left. tongue

Legendary Stan Lee (Spiderman fame) returns as producer - his presence on the set helped ensure accuracy in the latest Marvel SuperHero movie. Some amazing computer generated graphics couldn't keep the movie moving at a nice pace tho. Lots of action here and there, but you can't help thinking 10 minutes or so of fat-trimming would have helped a lot. Some of the violence bordered on visceral terror, others elicited reminders of Austin Powers scenes:

Dr. Evil: Scott, I want you to meet daddy's nemesis, Austin Powers
Scott Evil: What? Are you feeding him? Why don't you just kill him?
Dr. Evil: I have an even better idea. I'm going to place him in an easily escapable situation involving an overly elaborate and exotic death.

[Dr. Evil has left Austin and Vanessa to their doom.]
Scott Evil: Wait, aren't you even going to watch them? They could get away!
Dr. Evil: No, no, no. I'm going to leave them alone and not actually witness them dying. I'm just gonna assume it all went to plan. ...What?

and others could have just used a little common sense (if 1,000 rounds of machine gun bullets don't affect the Hulk, then 200 more rounds probably aren't gonna do much of anything either rolleyes ) Idda know, it seems like it could have been a great movie, but with the slipups here and there (they even made Jennifer Connely look not-hot mad ), it'll make people look forward to T3 instead.

Rated PG-13 for sci-fi action violence, some disturbing images and brief partial nudity, don't bring the small kids.

Favorite Line: "I don't know what I'm becoming, but I know one thing for sure...you wouldn't like me when I'm angry." eek

Rating: 7.0 (out of 10) - Lots of action, good graphics, screenplay could have been tighter.

I agree with your review...I was disappointed..saw the 1:05 pm show and the ankle biters started out being excited but by midway they were so bored they were running up and down the stairs and talking out loud...falling/crying..at least it kept me somewhat awake...and what's up with the multiple screens? bad idea...anyway tv hulk with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno rocks.....

Saw Seabiscuit this past Saturday.

Rated PG-13 or PG I forget... a little swearing a little fighting one ugly eye punch.

StorylineSmack dab in the middle of the depression/prohibition a three men and a horse find themsleves through trials. Filled with old newsreel footage and old radio boradcasts from the time. Based off the book by the same name and the history of the actual horse that won the triple crown.

Review I went in somwhat sceptical as the movie was some 2.5 hours in length, not including trailers. I figured it would be on the tedious side as most feel-good movies are. I was pleasantly suprised. The whole movie was relatively fast paced and energetic. The racing scenes have you on the edge of your seat because the camera is right in the thick of the action. Nice blend of suspense and story. Many chuckles and a couple of laugh-out-louds. Presented so well the audience clapped at one scene and again at the end.

Summation Must see. Will win a couple of awards this year.
