I'm not very good when it comes to writing things like this. I don't wanna just do a mini "review" of the CD, but I would like to share something more...My words never do the experience justice, so please be kind...
Almost always when I get a new CD there are songs that hit me right away and songs that don't. Songs I don't mind skipping over to get to the "better" ones. That didn't happen with this CD. One wonderful cut was followed by another.
It's a beautiful blend of styles. Right away you are catapulted into some very interesting, funky, lively praise pieces, then it eases into some genuine soul touching worship.
I have been struggling with some very personal issues recently. The devil loves to show us our past and I have been praying for a much needed soaking of Heavenly rain. For me, each song stripped away layer after layer until I was there, in the presence of God, transparent and vulnerable. The songs Start a Fire, Pure and Holy, River of Mercy ushered me to a place I haven't been in too long a while. But when the words and melody of If My Soul Could Sleep spoke to me, there was a welling up of my spirit that felt as though my body couldn't contain the fullness of my heart and there was no longer a division between me and my Father. It was a peacefulness that is beyond words, and grace and love and healing flowed in unison with my own tears.
It's difficult to recreate this exchange correctly. It was almost like time stopping. But what I do know is that my Lord loves me more than I have ever known, and He wants more of me. More than I have been willing to give. More of the fire that I had when I was first saved. More real and honest worship.
If you don't have it...get this CD.
A.W.E. ...I somehow think it wasn't titled this by accident...
