I'm going to rant for a second...I just feel really cheated by last night's movie, and maybe it shouldn't bother me so much, but it does. It bothers me that they actually made a movie like that and expect people to go see it...but what bothers me worse is that people actually
will go see it -- and they know that. They know it because our mental morality as a generation is flying out the window. We [as a whole] buy stupidity as hilarity. It's so stupid that it's funny, we think. So we pay the salaries of people in a multi billion dollar industry to sit around and smoke crack making the dumbest jokes possible, and video tape them, spoon feed them to us...and we don't spit it right back out in their faces. We spend our hard earned money on their low budget trash, and to them it's like taking candy from a baby.
True, the bizarre has some strange appeal...always has. I remember watching Benny Hill with my dad, and my mom getting upset about it...I remember the Carol Burnett show...all of which were bizarre and quite funny...But to me, this type of "comedy" is completely different than what we see now. Even Cheech and whats his name movies weren't this crappy (they were bad, tho...really really bad and I only found them funny the 3 times that I smoked dope in my life, which was the purpose, I guess...that should tell ya something)...Adam Sandler says a nasty word and it sells like hotcakes...and we laugh as we are spending the cash on it, and they laugh as they are pocketing the profits. Some freak comedian with a warped sense of humor puts new voices to old movies and bizarre jokes, some bad stuff, and makes it as dumb as possible...and we are snookered. I'm going to end this rant rather abruptly because I don't think this is worth more than two paragraphs...but I just wanted to speak my mind even tho it wont accomplish anything...
I
do feel a little better now that I have it out of my system... *aaah...*
