A NEW DECLARATION

More and more of today's history textbooks are eliminating the Declaration of Independence, partially because of its expressly religious content.  This is unfortunate, considering that it is important that students learn about our country's origin and the document that led to our independence from Great Britain.  The younger generations need to learn how much importance our founders placed on their faith in God, and they believed the United States was a nation divinely favored.

However, considering that God is now unconstitutional, perhaps it is time to revise our Declaration of Independence so that it can once again be published in school textbooks.  How about a Declaration that reflects today's values in the culture and the government?


ORIGINAL WORDS FROM 1776 --

"We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

"...And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the Protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor."


NEW WORDS FOR A NEW ERA --

"We hold these Subjective Whims to be meaningful and significant, that all of Our Mother Earth's Creatures evolved equally from the Primordial Slime, that they are given by the Government certain Rights and Opportunities, that among these are Tolerance for all views, lifestyles, and behaviors; Life (for all Creatures still wanted three days after birth, and are not a financial burden to their caregivers); Liberty (except in cases where the Government considers it appropriate to restrict this Right for the good of the Community and the Health of Our Mother); Universal Health Care; Affordable Housing; Affordable Child Care; Reliable Transportation; Fair Employment; Paid Family and Medical Leave; Lawsuits Against HMO's; and the Guarantee of Happiness, which is the most important Right of all, to be achieved through Government Regulations and equal distribution of resources.

"...And for the support of this Respectful Suggestion, with a firm reliance on the Guidance of our Inner Voices, we mutually share with one another our Feelings, our Desires, and our sacred Dreams of Self-Actualization and Global Harmony."
