This is a website that talks about all the things that are "evil" and shows you shouldn't let you kids watch...

They managed to include Veggie Tales! Not to mention the Prayer of Jabez, Left Behind, and the Prince of Egypt.

I tried to be open minded, believe me... But... Ugh!

I went there and yes, Ugh that about sums it up!

It is a crying shame to see anyone who professes themselves Christian shut themselves off from the world in the name of "purity of truth" The Bible is very clear when God says that "Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

People of that bent put God in a box and only allow Him to DO what they think he should do, and only work WHERE they think He should be working. That goes back to Forever's comment about being so spiritual minded that you are no earthly good. Surrounding yourself with like believers and "preaching to the choir" while patting each other on the back about what a Godly opinions you all have.

Struggles and conflict are good. overcoming adversity causes growth. Isolating yourself from the things that stir your spirit will only cause you to stagnate. If someone is of the opinion that there is something ungodly in a particular movie then show it to your kids and teach them the difference. I have a seven year old. He has witnessed to other children already. This style of Puritanism is what caused the bloodbath in Salem. It is also the same mentality that causes a church to die out!

This is a case of pursuing purity to the detriment of other things. Those guys are so heavenly minded, they are no earthly good! Have I heard that saying before...? <img src="confused.gif" border="0" alt="" />

I can attest to the point that Steve made above. When you shelter your children from the "bad things" in the world, they don't know how to react later in life when they have no choice but to face the decisions that the real world puts before them.

I am a good example. (don't scoff, I actually knew a mother who did that...) There should be a measure of discernment in the things that your kids are allowed to watch. But don't cut them off from the rest of the world, for crying out loud! The shock value of even simple things will seem like a big crisis to them, and they won't have a clue how to react. It will also leave them feeling inferior to the people around them. Trust me on this one...

I find it quite ironic that the people at that site offer links to some of gospelcom.net's pages, because when you go to the main page of gospelcom.net it has pics of the new animated characters from the creators of Veggie Tales. I suppose that if they ever find out, they will start boycotting gospelcom.net. <img src="rolleyes.gif" border="0" alt="" />
