"The Finish Line"

A few years ago, at the Seattle Special Olympics, nine contestants, all physically or mentally disabled, assembled at the starting line for the 100-yard dash.

At the gun, they all started out, not exactly in a dash, but with a relish to run the race to the finish and win. All, that is, except one little boy who stumbled on the asphalt, tumbled over a couple of times, and began to cry. The other eight heard the boy cry. They slowed down and looked back. Then they all turned around and went back. Every one of them.

One girl with Down's Syndrome bent down and kissed him and said: "This will make it better." Then all nine linked arms and walked together to the finish line.

Everyone in the stadium stood, and the cheering went on for several minutes. People who were there are still telling the story. Why?

Because deep down we know this one thing. What matters in this life is more than winning for ourselves. What matters in this life is helping others win, even if it means slowing down and changing our course.

- Diane Berke
angel this reminded me of our Christian walk and the race that we are all running. I have a feeling that God was smiling with tears in His eyes that day.

Wow...no....
WOW...no....
WOOOOOWWWEEEEEE!!!!

I hit asphault and skinned both of my knees...tried to get back up by pulling those around me down and climbing on them...and then fell and busted my asphault again! And still there were people around me to help me back up. I love you guys.

A lesson can really be learned from that story...thanks for sharing.

A friend is one who believes in you when you have ceased to believe in yourself.

The events of the last 24 hours have made me realize the importance of this passage even more~

"They slowed down and looked back. Then they all turned around and went back. Every one of them.

One girl with Down's Syndrome bent down and kissed him and said: "This will make it better." Then all nine linked arms and walked together to the finish line."

Michelle...

I tried to e-mail you something to Stand, but I got a message back...(in Swedish...ROFL) that sounded something like your mailbox was full... smash

What up?

Lisa...thanx for the PM...You make my visits here just as pleasant. laugh

It is so refreshing to hear new and interesting viewpoints and learn... it would be so boring if we already knew all there was to know, eh?

Howdy there... tomorrow is the United Way's Day of Caring, so we were supposed to go early to our "jobs". I had to cancel cos I have a project due on Friday...so I will be in and out of my office all day. I think that if you try about 11:30 (your 10:30) I should be there. If you do get my voice mail (and you want to) leave me your number and I'll return the call...

I'll try sending that e-mail again...I'll use my other e-mail account to see if that works any betta...Have a good night...talk to you tomorrow!
