Hello everyone, thank you for such a great place to discuss current issues in Christian life. If I may, I'd like to start a topic I don't see much of in my local paper or on the news - this will read something like "news of the weird" but be about issues and events I see around the world. If this isn't the correct forum, please, moderator, move it to the correct one Something I was reading just now struck a nerve hard enough to make me register and post about it: I have no relation to reality. I am talking about how things should be. In this interview on memri.tv (Arab TV) a sheik from Egypt is being interviewed regarding female sexuality and Islam. Money quote:
quote:
In Egypt we have four and a half million spinsters. The definition of a spinster is a woman who has reached 30, without ever receiving a marriage proposal. We have a spinster problem in the Arab world, and the last thing we want is for them to be sexually aroused. Circumcision of the girls who need it makes them chaste, dignified, and pure.

In a religion where "honor killing" is still common-place :gag:, we still see attitudes from the dark ages. At what point do women's movements see the need to stand up to the repression, brutality, bigotry and torture of millions of women? Things that make you go "hhmmm..."

WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
The current womens movement in America is far to concerned with the right to divest themselves of inoccuous growths (translate: unborn babies) than any real stirring global issues....
Good post!

MR. PRESIDENT, I'M HEADED TO MEXICO
David M. Bresnahan April 1, 2006 NewsWithViews.com
Dear President Bush:
I'm about to plan a little trip with my family and extended family, and I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to walk across the border from the US into Mexico, and I need to make a few arrangements. I know you can help with this.
I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passport, immigration quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here.
So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Vicente Fox, that I'm on my way over? Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:
1. Free medical care for my entire family.
2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.
3. All government forms needs to be printed in English.
4. I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking teachers.
5.Schools need to include classes on American culture and history.
6. I want my kids to see the American flag flying on the top of the flag pole at their school with the Mexican flag flying down.
7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch.
8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.
9. I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I won't make any effort to learn local traffic laws.
10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from Pres Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that all police officers speak English.
11. I plan to fly the US flag from my house top, put flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.
12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying taxes, and never say a critical word about me, or about the strain I might place on the economy.
13. Please tell all the people in the country to be extremely nice and never say a critical word about me, or about the strain I might place on the ecomony.
I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all the people who come to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure that Pres Fox won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely. However, if he gives you any trouble, just invite him to go quail hunting with your V.P.
Thank you so much for your kind help.
Sincerely,
David M. Bresnahan

14. I plan on having a child while I am there so it will have citizenship and that my whole family can stay and get even more of the free things that are given away just like your WIC and Food Stamps and Vaccinations.

Flight 93 Voice Recorder Transcript Released by Findlaw in pdf format, here's the text of it, which can be found here . Its absolutely chilling, but also inspiring to finally see an unedited picture of what happened aboard that plane. The transcript leaves no doubt that there was a furious struggle going on for control of Flight 93 up until the final seconds in Pennsylvaniaand no doubt that those heroic passengers, who battled to the very end, prevented the 9/11 attacks from being even more devastating. The awliyawho live for His sake and die with His Name upon their lips.
They have sanctified death, they die with the name of Allah on their lips, and seventy virgins are waiting for them in Paradise...
Shahadah:
"There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His messenger...Allah Akhbar"
Faithful Muslims will repeat this statement thousands of times during their lifetime...and hope and pray that it will be the last words to cross their lips before they die...
DA Note: References above back up what we were told (especially when dealing with radical Islamists/Jihadists) that the only way to get to Paradise is to have the name of Allah on one's lips in death. Remember Egypt Air flight 990? The replacement co-pilot was heard saying similar words as he plunged the plane into the ocean.

I just wonder what the reaction is when there are 70 thousand degree flames to great them instead of 70 virgins. It is amazing for a god that doesn't exist what kind of passion there is by it's followers. Interrupt their prayers they kill you. Interrupt my prayers I invite you to join. hrmm
You know in the muslim religion as in christianity there are many interpretations for Allah. Just as for Jehovah there are many different names. But unlike our Jehovah, there is not an interpretation for Allah meaning love...

Ever wonder what the expression "stuck on stupid" meant?
Well here in the first picture is an example:
The grinning idiot clinging to Je$$e Jack$on is Cindy Sheehan... the sob sister protesting the war at Bush's ranch, who lost her son in the war, the same son she gave up in her divorce when he was 7 years old.
And by the way if you wonder why she has so much free time ... she is going through another divorce right now and guess what? She is giving up custody of another son.
As Forest Gump once wisely proclaimed, "Stupid is as stupid does."
What Is The Second Picture?
Obviously, it's a picture in a cemetery. What cemetery and whose grave?
Sadly, it's the grave of Casey Sheehan. After two years, and a DoD payment of $250,000 to the "Peace Mom", Cindy Sheehan has not had the time or bothered to have a headstone placed on this young hero's grave. And, she doesn't even have to pay for one, the DoD will provide one:
"The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a government headstone or marker for the grave of any deceased eligible veteran in any cemetery around the world . For all deaths occurring before September 11, 2001, the VA may provide a headstone or marker only for graves that are not marked with a private headstone.
Flat markers in granite, marble, and bronze and upright headstones in granite and marble are available. The style chosen must be consistent with existing monuments at the place of burial. Niche markers are also available to mark columbaria used for internment of cremated remains."
Apparently she can find time to protest on at least 3 continents, get arrested various times, go on vacation in Hawaii, have photo ops with the Marxists in Venezuela, but can't seem to find the time to properly mark her son's grave.

On the news today she bought 5 acres of land near crawford to launch her future protests. No time for Casey's cemetary still.

http://www.zombietime.com/wtc_9-13-2001/These photos were taken at Ground Zero, the World Trade Center site in New York, on September 13, 2001. They were taken by someone named "Ed" who was allowed into the area by a member of the emergency response crew, at a time when all civilians -- including most journalists -- were forbidden to enter the area. As a result, these photos are just about the only close-ups ever taken of the World Trade Center site so soon after the 9/11 attacks.

The lack of a headstone may be false, but the general lunacy of the marxist/terrorist-loving nutjob is verifiable She took 2 years to wait to have one placed because she can't "citing her grief and unwillingness to acknowledge her son's death". Meanwhile she travels around the world to be seen with those who hate America (Hugo Chavez) et al while speaking out at every chance about her son's death. She was part of the group that placed hundreds of crosses protesting the dead soldiers yet she can't put a headstone at her son's grave?

Just a little follow-up on the story: It is much more true than it is false. I understand the headstone was placed May 27 2006, 783 days after Casey's death according to news sources. There's no record of when the email was originally sent out, surely > 2 years is more than enough time to get a headstone placed on a gravesite. The $250k in insurance money she rec'd upon his death apparently wasn't enough money to properly honor her son. How did she spend her time instead? - She traveled to DC in Jan. 2005 to speak at a anti-war rally - She traveled to San Diego and San Francisco in March 2005 to speak at anti-war rallies - She spent the month of August 2005 camped out in crawford texas protesting the war (during which she helped commemorate Casey's death by placing a white cross in a field) at her "Camp Casey". - In Sept 2005 she made headlines for calling Hurricane Katrina (in which >1800 people died) "just a little wind and water" because she was angry attention was drawn away from her anti-war movement - She protested in Washington, DC during September 2005, getting herself thrown in jail in the process - In November and December 2005 she traveled promoting her book to back to texas, then chicago, london, ireland, and madrid, spain. - In January 2006 she traveled to South America giving a liplock to marxist dictator Hugo Chavez in Venezuela. - Back to DC later that month for more protesting. (another arrest) - March 2006 - protesting in NY, NY (another arrest) bah, my fingers are tired of typing. Here's a site that's a little over-the-top, but they have some decent info on her $2,500 a pop speaking engagments: http://www.cindysheehanwatch.com/index.htmlIt was nearly June, after 43 speaking engagements in 2006 alone all over the world (including europe, canada and australia), prior to placing a headstone at his grave During all that, she didn't mind posing lying on top of his grave for Vanity Fair in aug. 2005:

A BIT OF GOOD NEWS : The Grand Sheikh of Al Azhar, the oldest and most highly respected institution in Sunni Islam; and the Grand Mufti of Egypt have released an official fatwa declaring the practice of female circumcision (also called female genital mutilation or female genital cutting) un-Islamic. The decision was made at a conference hosted in Egypt and attended by Muslim clergy from around the world. Sadly, this counts as progress.

Woman raped before "honor killing" LONDON (Reuters) - A Kurdish woman was brutally raped, stamped on and strangled by members of her family and their friends in an "honor killing" carried out at her London home because she had fallen in love with the wrong man.
Banaz Mahmod, 20, was subjected to the 2-1/2 hour ordeal before she was garroted with a bootlace. Her body was stuffed into a suitcase and taken about 100 miles to Birmingham where it was buried in the back garden of a house.
Her badly decomposed body was found in April 2006, three months after the killing.
Last month a jury found her father Mahmod Mahmod, 52, and his brother Ari Mahmod, 51, guilty of murder after a three-month trial. Their associate Mohamad Hama, 30, had earlier admitted killing her.

Life expectancy I'm sure is quite a bit less for the female in that religion than the male. Here's pictures of the New York Skyline from March 2001: http://and-still-i-persist.com/?p=85Compare to those from this morning: Manhattan Skyline

Amazing story from one person in the twin towers who got out alive by sheer stroke of luck: http://www.coxandforkum.com/archives/001195.htmlpart of it: I'm 105 flights up. The commute to get downstairs takes about five minutes, especially around that time. So I'm annoyed, obviously, because I have to go down now to sign these people in after I just told them to bring ID. I look at this desk assistant across from me, thinking maybe she'll help out and go down, but she's on the phone. She's also about eight months pregnant. She's a few weeks from maternity leave and she's on the phone talking to a friend and she's on a website looking at bassinets and cribs. A very nice girl expecting her first child. So how lazy am I? I decide to go myself. ...
And... thanks to instapundit, this article on Bin Laden: Miserable Failure
Six years ago, Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda weren't just attempting to bring down the twin towers of the World Trade Center. They were trying to smash the American economy as well. Here is what bin Laden himself said about his goals and motivations back in December 2001: "If their economy is destroyed, they will be busy with their own affairs rather than enslaving the weak peoples. It is very important to concentrate on hitting the U.S. economy through all possible means." And here is what al Qaeda second-in-command Ayman al-Zawahiri said in September 2002: "We will also aim to continue, by the permission of Allah, the destruction of the American economy."
No luck so far, despite bin Laden's recent videotape ravings about our taxes and mortgage debt. Although the towers came down, the resilient American economy didn't. Since September 11, the economy hasn't suffered a single down quarter. In fact, it has notched 23 straight quarters of economic growth. (And despite the subprime mortgage crisis, this is likely to be the 24th straight quarter of growth.) Those numbers are especially amazing when you consider that when the terrorist attacks happened, the Internet stock bubble was in full implosion mode. The economy dipped in the third quarter of 2001 and was slightly negative in two of the previous four quarters. But it's been nothing but growth since then. Overall, the American economy is, adjusting for inflation, $1.65 trillion bigger than it was six years ago. To put that gigantic number in some perspective, the U.S. economy has added the equivalent of five Saudi Arabias, eight Irans, 13 Pakistans, or 15 Egypts, depending on your preference. And while 9/11 did cause the stock market to plunge, the Dow is 37 percent higher than it was on Sept. 10, 2001, creating trillions of dollars of new wealth for Americans. What's more, the unemployment rate is 4.6 percent today vs. 5.7 percent back then. Not bad at all.

Yeah, that makes sense. You can't sit next to a man in a coffee shop but it is A-OK to have the "morality police" strip you naked for their viewing pleasure.
Riiiiiiiiiight.....

Just when AlGore had it all figured out: Temperature Monitors Report Widescale Global Cooling Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming
Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on.
No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.

Mikhail Gorbachev a Christian? Whenever Ronald Reagan would mention his suspicion that Mikhail Gorbachev was a secret believer, everyone on the White House staff would scoff, thinking the president naive. When I had the opportunity to speak to Gorbachev a couple of years ago, however, I found myself concluding that Reagan had been onto something after all. Why, I asked, had Gorbachev refrained from putting down the revolution of 1989, just as Khrushchev had put down the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and Brezhnev had put down the Prague Spring of 1968? "Because of something I shared with Ronald Reagan," Gorbachev replied. "Christian morality."
