All things considered... they did a pretty good job, I think.
If there's a deeper message, I don't know that I'm getting it.

For photography's sake it's an ok picture. What I would think would get it banned is the inclusion of the male in it - not sure what the purpose is but it makes the picture go from an ok picture imitating a great work of art to something that has some sort of agenda.

Am I soooooo old my eyes don't work? Male? My initial thought was of it being a mockery and just wrong. Looking closer I wondered what they were trying to accomplish with semi nude woman? Guess I'm just to rigid. Anything but the original just seems wrong to me.

Well, the guy is sitting where Mary Magdalene is supposedly sitting... Hm.
The only thing that really offends me is seeing that guys buttcrack, really.
And... Nab--I think they all have cute shoes!

Still don't see a male. The thing that offends Ashley also looks female to me.

well, at first i supposed one could be offended, but if you take a point of view, as one is intended to,when viewing art and try to read what the artist is trying to tell you, or what he wants you to contrive from the experience of "reading a story" all at once, as artwork is,one might get something different. i see a man where magdeline (according to the da vinci code etc) is, but i dont find it offensive, i see his body language as hurt, and he is turning to the others for comfort. his rear-crack is incidental. i also see the clothes not as risque' but as modern, something that would tie the looker-on into taking a second look and putting themselves into the situation. if they are dressed as we would dress, we can more likely identify with the las supper rather than see it as something long ago and far away. i like it and would like more info on the artist etc. i would also like to see a bigger more detailed picture of this .. where can you find a better rendition of it ?

Jenn, you're quite persuasive. Looking through your eyes in a way I didn't, it looks different. I'll get back to you.

okay, here i am again on this topic. i read that it is something done maybe to sell jeans .. whatever. but in truth, isnt ART what it speaks to you personally ? maybe i saw something totally different. As a Catholic, I am not offended as I am not offended having american indian heritage at the word "redman" ... no work of art or statement of any kind is powerful enough to offend me and my faith. it just doenst get in there to hurt me.
Well i see soemthing different. perhaps the scene is one of today's twisted modern world as if it might be speaking to liberals. christ figure as a female, partner or closest, sitting at right hand, turning away and hurt. Almost none of the legs and feet match up or are enough, doesn this mean they are disconnected ? no longer whole ? only one figure is looking directly at the camera, does this signify a judas ? or the one in black ?
i could really take a peice of work like this and find some deeper artistic meaning. something that could speak to me, then again, it might speak to others who identify with a modernistic facsimily. i doubt a jean designer really meant to upset the church. and if they did, the controversy is only selling more jeans. i take it for what it is .... as a peice of artwork. whether or not it was intended to be real art, i am taking it as such. maybe it was supposed to sell jeans or shoes, but i see what might have been the chaos insued when the Lord as seated as his last supper, told his closest friends that this was the last time they would break bread together. just like "the da vinci code" book didnt weaken my faith or offend it, it strengthened it. as this does as well.
so consider it as anything that relates to faith or faith events as something that reminds you of what it meant ... eg .. the last supper, and works such as this will make even those who dont think about christ on a daily basis as they search for deisgner shoes, think about him because ... well, the last supper tends to do that!
My feelings are anything that makes you think of God or Christ when you were least expecting to, is just another way to take advantage of that moment for faith's sake in today's ever-pagan society.
