So far away, doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore? It would be so fine to see your face at my door Doesn't help to know you're just time away
I heard this song by carole king the other day on some station playing 'old music'. Beautiful song... a little melancholy. It reminds me a lot of how we view God sometimes - way up there somewhere, not really caring what we do, if we live or die.
Long ago I reached for you and there you stood Holding you again could only do me good How I wish I could, but you're so far away
When we first came to a real relationship with Jesus, everything was gold and light. We loved everybody and everything. Eventually the newness wore off, life happened, and we wandered away. Yet, if you asked us at that time, it was God who turned His back, stopped loving us, moved to another neighborhood.
One more song about movin' along the highway Can't say much of anything that's new If I could only work this life out my way I'd rather spend it bein' close to you.
Lots of good intentions get us no where fast. We think we have to clean up our act first and then we'll be good enough to try the 'Christian thing' again.
But you're so far away, doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore? It would be so fine to see your face at my door Doesn't help to know you're so far away
Yay-uh-ay-eee Oh, so far away
I find myself feeling down often, I think probably because I spend so much time alone, it's easy to slip into a feeling that I am alone in the universe - no real friends, etc. This is a verse I like to re-read to myself to remind me of some basic truths:
Romans 8:38-39 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can't, and life can't. The angels can't, and the demons can't. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
ps: not sure why I wrote this, maybe someone out there needs to read and remember.

Those were interesting analogies . -------------------------------------------------- </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Originally posted by Allen:

There are people who are concerned about you...who pray for you. You don't have to spend so much time alone. There is a wide range of people who would enjoy your company. Friendship as in any other relationship takes a certain amount of effort. Sometimes it can be exhausting, but the rewards are worth it.

Hey, the song is melancholy... I wasn't It was something I've been thinking about the last few days tho, I had to write it as I know others besides me out there forget whose on our side Deuteronomy 31:6 & 8Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

I was sincere... but I wasn't trying to post a " Lifetime" special Re-read it now and see what I meant. We think we're alone and that everyone has left us, not true according to everything I can find...

If it is any consolation, I know now how it feels to be alone ... personally, not spritually. Being way over here and in the situation I am in, I am forced to be alone, without all the old friends. But in reality, I am chosing to be alone. I am the one who stays home and doesnt get out to meet anyone new, and I am sure that whoever said it, staying alone is a choise ...is true.
being alone has its benefits, you sure do avoid a lot of pain and hurts, but then again, it kinda stinks.
get out there and be yourself ... you are pretty fun to be around, so quit doing the world an injustice, let them know you !
and yeah, it is a cool song.
