Angel good point! Trying not to be too explicit here... LOL So it would be ok for your spouse to do that for you and not ok for you to do it yourself??? Sounds weird... After all, it is YOUR body! And you know, to get uhmm good at it, you need practice

I was wondering if someone was gonna touch this topic after angel's post I agree with Aleina... the only problem I can see is if you get caught up too much in yourself and not consider your mate's needs. oh yeah, it is a viable alternative to spaying or neutering your cat too

Okay, I just adressed this issue in Girl World, and I wanna ask it here. Why on earth would it be okay for married people to do that and not single people? Isn't that sorta having your cake and eating it too? So what, your mate can um...help you out and you can help yourself out, but if you have not mate, then it's wrong to do that on your own??? It's not fair, I tell you!!!!

See that is what I am getting at forever, it isnt any different ... you can't make exceptions. See, I always tried to feel like this "thing" was bad or a sin, but it never "took" so to speak, I could never understand the horror of it. Thanks for someone speaking up after I "touched" this topic.
Yeah, Allen, if it is coming between the two of you, I guess I could see it being a problem, like video games, or golf or soap operas ... Riiiiight, point being that I doubt it will ever take the place of real sexual love and contact.

I think we answered this once before. It would be the same - single, married, divorced, engaged, widowed, etc.
quote:
Originally posted by Allen: Somehow I missed this topic
The verses you guys are talking about is in Matthew Chapter 5 or so right after He talks about be-attitudes.
Hold on.. gotta go get my notes from today's service.
Nevermind, they are outside and it's almost 2am, I'll try from memory. No comments from the peanuts™ gallery
Is it sin? Yes and no - 99 times outta 100 lust is part of the equation... Will it make you go blind? My eyesight is... ummmm.. never you mind about my eyesight The actual act itself is probably not considered sin, as you aren't bringing someone else into the equation. Lust probably comes in before the act even begins.
Matthew 5:27,28 "You have heard that it was said, `Do not commit adultery.' But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
The nocturnal emmissions were most like what we call wet dreams - in those days many things were deemed "unclean" and mainly so that disease and its modes of transmission would be minimized - the same deal was done with women during their monthly cycle - neither are unnatural or sinful, just normal bodily functions.
We can face it, 95% of all males (prolly 99%) have or do masturbate and I believe the figure is ~80% or more for women. Does "commoness" make it right? No, but don't beat yourself up over it... as white-dog said: die daily to the flesh...
Here's a scripture to consider. Written by the man who wrote 2/3 of the New Testament and considered to be the strongest Christian who ever lived.
Philippians 3:12-14 (paraphrased) Not that I ... have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Paul is saying he cannot live up to the perfection he expects in himself and understands that the journey is more important than the destination. Live your life "holy and acceptable" before God. When you stumble, get back up and continue on the journey. Feed the good dog in your life with prayer, bible study, fellowship with other Christians and starve the bad dog of lust by not visiting those sites, reading those magazines, viewing those movies, etc. The good dog will win more often than not. Just remember it's a daily battle...

bingo, I agree is is all about lust. Even when done in a marriage it can be wrong.... I can't say who is right and who is wrong but if the lust involved is for self or of another besides the spouse the bible is clear that that is sin..
God bless!

So what you guys are saying is that it is okay during marriage as long as you are not lusting after someone else and as long as you consider your partner's needs, so that means it's okay when you're single as long as there is no lust involved????

Lust would be desiring something that doesn't belong to you... can be of a sexual nature, can be most anything tho.
quote:
Originally posted by foreverchanged: So what you guys are saying is that it is okay during marriage as long as you are not lusting after someone else and as long as you consider your partner's needs, so that means it's okay when you're single as long as there is no lust involved????

I am thinking it is technically not sinful in that instance. If you still have guilt involved, it may not be good for you even if it doesn't send you to hell . Some people believe watching television is sinful, mostly due to the pathways to lust it can open - others have a differing opinion.

Okay, so it's fine as long as there's no lust involved and you don't feel guilty..............?

Would be one of those "between you and God" issues I think at that point. Some say it is ok to view rate R movies if there is only violence and bad language, but not if there is nudity involved. Others won't go to pg-13 movies because they don't want to be seen as "compromising their standards". It's not a black and white issue, there's a healthy dose of grey once you get past the initial issues.
