Mom just found out that in all likelyhood she will have to go through hip-replacement surgury within the next six weeks or so. She has an appointment with an Orthopedic Surgeon in about two weeks. Please pray for her as you are led...

Good news bad newz...

On the bright side the xrays and the O.S. said that she wont need hip replacement surgury, a month long hospital stay and have to foot the 20% that is not covered... and they have her on a new anti inflamatory starting the 1st of next month

On the downside it may not be that simple... It could be A) several blood vessels in the end of the bone have died and made a collapsed pocket inside the joint. B) it could be caused by her knee. C) it could be caused by something in her abdomen. D) or the strong possibility is that this is a result of an original back problem/surgury and may be something that they can do nothing about.


Thanks for your continued prayers! She has an MRI scheduled for friday.

Wow, sure hope the medication works don't like the other possibilities. Will be praying!

Update.........

She was given several steroid injections in the hip area along with the new anti inflamatories and has less pain than she was having. There has still been no confirmation on the cause yet and I don't know if she got the results back from the MRI yet, that should reveal much more.

Will pray Steve... the bright side is, if she does need one and gets it, she'll be in much less pain when rehab is over... most people I've talked to who got joint replacements wish they had done it sooner.

Ahh, I never updated this. Sorry. She was finally diagnosed with Bursitis in that hip, so no surgury etc.


But as she is almost 70 we have other trials!

Hi,

I talked with the doctor's office today and have an appointment for cataract surgery set up for Thursday November 13 early morning. The surgery and recovery should last about 2 1/2 hours so I would be out of there by noon.  That is unless there was some unforeseen complication. This is scheduled for Methodist Hospital in the Medical Center.  

Please pray for her and the Dr.s!

Prayin real hard Steve. It should be a breeze. I hope they warned her about seeing color in that eye for a while and the probability of floaters. She shouldn't panic. I all gets better pretty quickly.

Today is the day!

She has to be there at like six thirty this am. I pick her up at 9:30 to take her home.


She will be in Methodist hospital in the medical center for the procedure.

My grandma had cancer surgery in the Methodist Hospital. Feels like walking into a fancy hotel there. It was very nice. And they took AWESOME care of her.

I have full faith and will be praying that all goes well and that you will post a good report soon!

Surgury went well. She was in and out by 8:00 am. We were heading home by 8:30


I have to take her to her follow up in the am so the Dr. can play Peek-a-boo.

Took her to her follow up appt yesterday and the Dr. said everything was just peachy and she got her patch off and can go back to work Monday.

(still on orders for no heavy lifting *roflol, she's 70. I don't think she will be getting a Joe Weider Olympic weight set for Christmas )
