To all of my friends here at Praisecafe.com:
Just wanted to announce (and introduce Bill to some of you who had no idea.....) that I got married this past Friday on June 4th.
Bill is an incredible man that I am madly in love with. I started seeing him soon after my short lived romance with Chris (That everyone knew about.....) ended. Bill and I work for the same company. He is a security officer. And he seems to adore my children and I. We also went to junior high school together in Lake Charles.
We had planned a trip for New Orleans soon after we began dating. We made reservations and was planning on doing lots of fun "tourist" type stuff while we were there. We decided very early on that we were committed to each other and had discussed getting married....but, thought that it would be best to wait for two years since both of us had been married before....we didn't want to rush into anything. (LOL) Then out of the blue on May 28th, he proposed to me. He said that we should get married while we were in New Orleans. That was the craziest, most romantic thing that I had ever been asked! And I said, without any hesitation, "YES!!!" So, I went to the fabric store and bought some material and a pattern and came home and made me a wedding dress (in just one afternoon!). I took some silk flowers from one of the arrangements that was left from my Grandma's funeral and made my bouquet. I made decorations for mine and Emalie's hair and I made boutonnieres for Sheldon and Bill. I found me some $7 shoes at Wal-Mart and we packed our bags and headed for the "Big Easy"!
We were married at 4 o'clock Friday afternoon in the City Park of New Orleans. God absolutely smiled on us for giving us such a perfectly beautiful day. We were married by a retired Justice of the Peace, Dr. Jerry Schwehm (also a Presbyterian Minister). And we asked two strangers in the park to be our witnesses. Besides a few pigeons....that was all the folks that were there. We realize that perhaps some of you could have made the trip.....but, we found the idea of eloping very adventurous. We will have a reception soon and we do hope that as many of you that are able to attend will join us for that. We haven't tentatively set a date for that yet, but we are hoping it will be in August. His brother is in Iraq and will come home in September....so we may plan it so that he can be there, too. I will let you all know, as the planning process gets underway.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my exciting news with you all!
If I could remember how to post pictures....I have a bunch to share! But, I got frustrated the last time I tried. lol. So, don't hold yer breath on seeing them unless you email me. Some of you already got them in an email tonight. But, I will try to post them for everyone to see.
Much love and appreciation for you all!
Saphy
