Ok guys and gals....

Stand has been through many phases in the years God has been using it. It started with a group of young adults who had a passionate need to persue a relationship with the ONE TRUE LIVING GOD. Out of this was birthed a place where everyone could come (regardless of socities views of their worth) who was searching for a REAL GOD.

What we never expected was the awesome way God would use it in such a short time. We have seen a new generation of young believers who are no longer interested in spitting out "sunday school answers" of who God is. THEY WANT TO KNOW HIM INTIMATELY!!

As with any relationship, there are times of exuberation and natural highs, as well as times of questionning and searching for levels of comfort. But through it all, a cornerstone relationship is being built that will last throughout ones lifetime.

We have been praying for God to give us direction for the next leg of what He wants STAND to accomplish.

We will be meeting on MONDAY NIGHTS AT 7:00PM at the SCIENCE AUDITORIUM at Lamar Bmt., starting this Monday night 6-18-02.

This will be a time of worship and prayer and I want to welcome everyone out to be a part of what God is doing next.

Reminding everyone that STAND will be at 7:00pm and not the 8:30 we are all used to. Hopefully the earlier time will help those with kids.

Sooooooooooooooo...How was it?

This is my third time to come to the website and see this question, and I was going to do the great "church thing" and act like everything was soooooooooooooo great--
But I can't.

To be honest with you I am so confused that my spirit hurts... literally.

Did God really call me to a higher purpose or am I just wasting my time.

Of course He did (call you)...but He didn't say it was going to be easy...

What did or didn't happen?

Praying for answers and comfort for those who are physically trying to build up stand ... we, who are there in spirit, are there too ya know, we are standing right next to you !

Starting something back up that was all-but-gone in the first place is pretty hard work. It's much easier keeping something rolling than starting from a dead start.

Firstly, most people did not know it was starting back up, I am sure the students on campus didn't know, there was the time change, it's summer time and most places experience downward turns in attendance to everything, etc. etc.

None of this is excuses or any type of condemnation, just observations... we really can't depend on the dead in Christ to rise first if they're dead. Growth will come from new people, which will require some action on our part. I am tied up on Monday nights for the next 2 months now, but can do behind the scenes stuff any other time, like on the weekends - I can help with advertising, promotion, etc.

When you re-read your original posting do you see just how difficult getting the new Stand to compare to the old was going to be?

You can't go back and make it be the same. It will never be the same. People have changed and moved on. Students have graduated or set their focus on other things.

What you have to do is make it similar...incorporate the things that worked that would draw them to it. And also eliminate those things that didn't work.

Allen's right about the time of year and change in meeting time. People are very complicated and most often rebel against change. The summer months, vacations and especially now with graduations, will all be factors in the number in attendance.

Be sure tho Jason, that God doesn't do something half way.

is related. It doesn't take rocket science to know that we know that we know - God has called us to a higher purpose. If we reach only one person in the coming months, who's to say that isn't huge in the Kingdom of God? That one person may go on to lead millions to Christ, or lead the one to Christ that does... tiny threads are what brought all of us here - me stopping to talk to someone I had never met before in the parking lot of world gym is the reason this web site is here and has ministered to thousands of people world-wide. I am sure all of us have similar stories.

He doesn't ask great things of us, only obedience - He does the work through us.

If this may help, well, it is just a little info, my contribution, 'cause I dont have words of wisdom, or try not to. I tried to start up something in our church for 5 years. We had soemthing and it was good. Then it fizzled. I went to the leaders, all the way up to the bishop, had funding, support etc, but nothing happened. They even had others try,but somehow the time wasn't right. The student center had a steady flow of young adults, but not ministry per say. My life moved on but my passion didnt. Just the other day, I was reading the update of what is going on in the area, and they have started up the group again, gave it a new name, and started fresh. So far, it is working, and I dont know why. Almost 7 years since the old group was active. I am just happy it is there. Just dont give up, maybe make some drastic changes, and see what happens, the answers will come. Maybe not as fast as you want them to or in the way that you are used to, but dont give up, there are still tons of people needing believers like you guys.

I think that Stand is great. I think it means a great deal to young people to have some place to go like that. If you touch just one soul, it is worth it. So whit-dawg don't think that God did not choose you because he did. I'll pray for you that you get a touch of the spirit for next week Stand.
