What a weekend!!!
This weekend was the spring campout with the "cub-sprouts" (that name drives my son nutty

) Anyway we were camping on the south shore of Lake Livingston an hour north of Houston. The weather people had been saying that an unseasonable cold front was pushing through on friday, ahhh no biggie, right?
WRONG
Well my oldest son and I pull into the campground just about an hour after dark..... next time I am checking him out of school early! There is a flippin gale force wind blowing off the lake (from the north of course) and it is forty degrees!! Ok, we packed for cool weather but the wind was awful!! It, we found out later, was actually blowing steady at about 35mph and gusting to around 45!!! Sheesh talk about wind chill! Anyway I manage to set the tent up by single flashlight in the "oh so steady" hands of an eight year old who has just seen one of his friends.

I finish unpacking and load the tent etcetera. We chat with the neighbor a minute and I grumpily force my child into the tent to sleep (about 8:30 or 9) I was beat as I had not slept since the day before. The tent was making popping noises as the wind whipped the nylon material, but we both slept like logs

and headed back to the house. All in all it was a great weekend. We were there long enough and it was cold enough for Aaron to earn a cold weather camping patch!
Heh heh, He was still a zombie this morning getting ready for school!
Contrary to the way this reads, yes this is a praise!
Oh yeah, I talked with Aaron's den leader who will be moving over the summer and the Pack Leader and it's official I will be the Den Leader for Den 4, Pack 1292

at least for next year!
