I share our Roadie sorrows with ya'll, and I just wanted to share one of the awesome stories that one of our Roadies (Danielle) just got a chance to see first hand:
Hey Everyone,
I have a story to tell ya'll. It happened today 8-16-01. For those of you who do not know, I sale cell phones for Verizon. A lady that we work with died a couple of days ago of Cancer, she was a very strong Christian and she was ready to go hom and be out of pain. She came in every now and to say hello but I didn't know her. Everyone here is upset about it and going to the funeral today. No one really knows why God takes some people and heals others but the point is, he does heal for his own reasons. He takes the people with him when it's time. It is difficult for us to understand but he has his reasons. This is on a positive not though...here's my story...
This man named Larry came in a month or so ago with a question about his cell phone and told me to talk to him like a child because he has Leukemia and it is hard for him to understand. His mother was with him and he had stepped away for a few minutes and I asked her how he was doing with it. She said the hospital sent him home to receive hospice care. Which means there is nothing they can do for you but let you die at home and with no invasive medical intervention.
He came in today and I asked him how he was and he asked me if I believed in God and I said yes. He asked me if I believed in miracles and I said yes. He preceeded to tell me that the doctors gave him two weeks to live. Some time during that period, a man and women across the street from him (a Preacher) came over and prayed for him. He said he had never felt God before but when they prayed for him a warmth covered him from the top of his head and traveled down his body. He felt God! He started to cry telling me this. He said he had no been a real devout Christian and couldn't believe what he had felt.
A couple of weeks went by and I guess the doctor was curious if he had passed on or not so he called to see how he was. The nurse told the doctor that he did not look like a man that was dying, he looked like he was improving. He asked if he would come in for blood work and he did. All of his levels were normal. His white blood cells were up and his Hemoglobin was a little low. The doctor wanted to go ahead and do a blood transfusion to keep his level normal. The doctor couldn't believe that his levels were normal so he wanted to do a bone marrow aspiration to check even more. His bone marrow didn't have any blast cells. He was fine. The doctor didn't know what to say. He wants to go ahead and do a bone transplant to prevent the Leukemia from coming back.
This man had another miracle, for his bone tranplant there was a 1% chance of finding someone who would match his. It turns out, his daugther was a match. While he was standing there his phone rang. Again he started to cry, he has been waiting to see if his insurance would cover this $305,000 procedure and the phone call he received said it would.
He said that his doctor told him that M.D. Anderson has never had anyone that they sent home for hospice recover like that. I have never met anyone that has had a miracle happen to them like that. God healed him when he was going to die. It is amazing to hear a story like that. I wanted to share that story with ya'll to help brighten up your day. God's so wonderful! It just reminds me just how real and powerful he is. Take care.
