okay, this isn't a HUGE deal, but its still an answer to my prayer smile

i never *really* realized it until last week, but the smallest of prayers can be heard an answered. Last week was 4th of July, and I went to the beach, but since the beach was extremely croweded for the festivities, it was extremely hard to find a parking space. So FINALLY I find one.... 14 blocks away from all the happenings. The catch is... it was a pile of soft sand, but it looked fine to park in - it was obvious other cars had parked there in the past (tire marks).

So anyway, I pulled in, and I remembered. My car gets stuck in sand. So I was like, okay, I better get this out asap, before i get eally stuck. So I put my car into drive. My car would not budge. I got out of my car, and looked at my wheels to see if and how much I needed to turn them. So I turned them. I still did not move. I was stuck. very stuck.
Stuck and alone. Its bad to be stuck when there's no one to help you push your car, lol.

So I picked up my (heavy!) camera bag, locked my car, and walked. I walked forever. I walked around the festivities, got a drink, and just walked. I was hoping I'd find someone I knew who could help me. I didn;t see anyone. So after a few hours I walked back to my car. I was gonna get it out whther or not I had a strong man to help me, lol.

So as I was getting closer to my car, I prayed to God. I was like "God, I'm alone. Its hot, my car is stuck, and I need help!" I got into my car, started it up, put my car into reverse, and backed up an inch, and put my car into drive....
and I slid right out! It was so cool... I tried for 5 minutes earlier and would not budge. Ah... the power of prayer. smile

It was a small prayer, and I got a big answer.
yay God!

Thank you for sharing!!

That is so true...and your story reminds me of a time about a year ago when I was leaving work and I ran out of gas because my guage was broken. I had to push my car into the nearest parking lot...and walk to a gas station to buy a gas can and some gas. It was really HOT. On the way back, I was not feeling good (can't remember why) but I think it had something to do with my foot...and plus the heat. And I was just praying that someone I knew would pass me by...and someone I knew DID pass me by. A regular customer at the cafe that I was working at...his name was Jack. And just kept on going because he didn't see me.

I thought, VERY FUNNY, God!

And just then, a big white van pulled up behind me and started honking. I started speeding up my walk as if I could walk faster than the van could drive *roflol*. And I was reluctant to look back because of the book I had just got done reading about a serial killer who kept the bodies in his white van HAHAHAHA. And here I am on a back road...nobody knows where I am, and this big white van is honking at me and following me and has slowed down to a crawl. eek

So finally, curiosity got the best of me. I turned around, and who was in the big white van? None other than our very own Allen. laugh

I've driven that van a few times since....cause now I WORK there... hehehehe. But anyway, God really did answer that prayer. Once sarcastically...and the second time sincerely. smile

He's so good.

"VERY FUNNY GOD"

speaking of that, last year, I had some time to kill between my classes. So I ran out of cigarrettes, and I decide to drive down to the mall (which is about 2 blocks from the college), to go into walgreens and get a pack. So I did just that.

So as I was leaving the parkinglot to go back to school, I needed to make a left turn. But a white van (lol) in the right-turn lane was kind of blocking me. i was coming from the right). I figure, okay I can make this turn... so i turn past the van to get in the left turn lane, and I didn't cut my turn enough.... I side swiped the van, breaking her tail light, and scratching the whole side of my car with peices of broken plastic (one which got stuck in the side of my car).

So luckily there was a cop nearby. He took both out statements (I'm crying... "its my fault!! ticket me!!!") but he didn't ticket me, and the lady, even though she was mad, didn't take down my insurance, cause her insurance would cover the damage I did, since it wasn't much more than $100 worth.

So, we leave the parkinglot.... and another white van (i'm serious) pulls up behind me. hits me from behind. I turn quick and make a U turn back into the lot, hoping the guy would follow me, he didn't. Luckily there was no damage from that hit. smile

So anyway... I got to my class about 30-40 minutes late, all because I had to get my cigarettes. The whole time I was thinking "very funny God!" i bet that was his way of telling me not to smoke.

I've since quit smoking smile the 21st will be 2 months smoke free.

YYYYYYYYyAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaayyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!

Go girl. Dec. 20 will be 2 years for me since I quit. It took me a while to quit once I finally decided that I was going to obey God and do it...I expecte Him to take the withdrawal symptoms and everything away rolleyes since He really wanted me to quit. But He didn't. So I begged Him to make me sick every time I tried to smoke. And THAT, He did. Thanks...so yeah, my psychological addiction to smoking has gotten the best of me twice since the day that I gave them up for good. And I gave in and tried to smoke. And both times I got so sick...the same sick feeling that I had gotten the last time that I had smoked when I was trying to quit.

I am so proud of you for giving that up! You'll find out that you are so much better without the addiction constantly plauging you. There will be times (or at least there are for most people I know) when you still crave one...after a really good meal...in the winter time when you're sitting on the porch with a good cup of coffee...when you get really stressed or depressed. But it's so funny how most people smoke to reduce their stress level...and yet when you are addicted to the nicotine and you get stressed and you are in a place where you can't have it, you become twice as stressed and it just defeats the whole purpose! smile

But yes...to get back to your point, God does have a sense of humor.

i've had many attempts a quitting, and so far this is my most successful. i promised God I would quit, and I finally said to Him "I tried many times, and I can't do this myself. I need you to help me". So I quit smoking, and 5 days later, I prayed again "mark's being too sweet to me today, he doesn't know what's coming..., so please give me the stregth to break up with him. I know you don't want me with him" so I was able to break up w/ my boyfriend that night.... after 3 months of putting it off.

I think that is one factor that has kept me quit, too. cause whenever i was with him, even if i was trying to quit smoking, i'd end up smoking his cigarettes.

but now i'm turned off of cigarettes, and guys who smoke (cigarettes and any other drug).

anywho... yeah. when i got into those 2 accidents within a 7 minute timespan, after i bought the cigarettes, I was driving to school pretty much saying "stop laughing!!" (hey, i didn't get hurt, so there is a bright side)

peace,
kelly
