You may have heard of the Cotton Bowl up in Dallas, or the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, maybe even the Rose Bowl, the supposed "Grand Daddy" of bowl games, but let me tell ya, you have never heard of the Salad Bowl tongue

Going on its 23rd year in existence (and yes Virginia, yours truly has played in all 22, now 23 of'm), the Salad Bowl is the big brother to the Bowl Championship Series games - the one game that really decides the men from the boys, the sissies from the hunka hunka burnin loves.. the prissy mama's-boys from.. well, you get the picture.

This Tuesday afternoon, January 1st, 2002, at 2:00pm, we'll be lining up to once again tell the babies from the... ummm.. nevermind. We'll be kicking off and bringing home the bacon in 2-3 glorious hours on the gridiron. The gridiron is next to Southside Assembly of God church, in the south end of Beaumont off Cardinal Drive, take the Highland Ave. exit coming from either direction on Cardinal Drive.

For a map of the location, Click Here .

All are welcome to come and play.. the women folk might be interested in hearing that our very own Victoria broke the gender barrier recently and put the hurt on a couple of the opposing teams heads and egos. I can report that it wasn't me, I was smart enough to ask her to play on my team thumbsup

If you want somma dis, bring it on... hoppy

We were freezing... wind chill was in the low 20's somewhere. It was sleeting right before half-time. laugh

We did win 59 to 39, tho... laugh

One play late in the game we decided we were so far ahead that when they snapped the ball we all just laid down on the ground, they still barely made a touchdown tongue

May weather is like a thousand degrees, plus the heat factor tongue

Do you get to go to the ocean at all? At least there, you can have hot, but a breeze off the water... smile

The 26th annual Salad Bowl is coming this way Saturday at 1pm. If you got some hankering for a hunka, a slice a piece a chunka, if yer hankerin for a hunka hunka hurt, come on out. Girls and guys welcome, map is on the first page of this thread jumpy

Note: I've played in all 26 games, usually on the winning side, but I've still got remnants of injuries from years past. My nephew Chris is in town from the Marines - he and his bro NE-20 will be leading the other team. It'll probably warm (mid-70's) and raining, so I predict we'll only win by 24 points ruff

If I can get some non-girly pictures taken, I'll post'em dancin
