Hey guys!! I thought this was interesting and I thought that I would share my thoughts on this topic of Music and Worship...I went to a Seminar in the Rockies in Colorado and I learned soooo much about worship and what it really is to me..So if you would please just read this and see if you feel the same way....this is taken from my notes

there are 2 profound things you can say about worship...
1. 90% of all talk about worship is not about worship itself but about style and location
2. if you mess with people's style and location they get upset

Acts 18:12 talks about when Paul is brought into court by the Jews because Paul was persuading the people to worship God in ways contrary to the law. Paul was just trying to carry out the works of Christ.

We truly wish that the Bible talked more about worship and how to worship....

Jesus however had one powerful thing to say about worship...Worship is not a style nor a place..to be genuenly worshipful your worship must have 2 qualities
1. to be genuenly spiritual
2. to be genuenly true

Worship cannot be of ritual alone and it cant be false. if it is true and spiritual, and if it is yours alone, then it is Christs standards for what worship is all about.

Men can corrupt worship and make it unworthy of its subject buy focusing on style, literagy and location. ( literagy simply means in greek as an act of worship)

Romans 12:1 talks about offering your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. This is your SPIRITUAL ACT of WORSHIP. Whatever we do as Christians we do as living sacrifices to God which means that there is ONE call to worship.

Principles of Music and Worship:

We are not just called to worship on Sunday.
We are not called to worship on the first 15 or 20 minutes of Sunday either..

We are saying to each other that God will only show up if we, the worship leaders, create some kind of intense music experience when really you do not need music to create the Spirit of God because He is already there. He will not be more present if we do so..WORSHIP DOES NOT DEPEND ON MUSIC FOR ITS PRESENCE. If worship is practiced as a mood, then it is shallow and less meaningful.

Worship and music should not be interchanged but because of the decline in our language, we cannot find the words to describle worship anymore and have simply placed it or thrown it into a music category when really music is simply imstruments and singing etc. however worship is full of meaning and of passion and of something that Jesus strived for every second of his living life and is something that He tried to teach to people so that they might be free and be true worshipers.

What does church have to do with it anyway?
Church is where we come together to do together what we have already been doing separately.

A time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

True worship is continual by living in the spirit.

When we worship, it is the spirits way of leaving the pollution that makes us blind and we can see whats been there all along. It is something that we do within ourselves to step out of the light pollution to see HIS light.

I dont know about you guys but for the longest time i was kind of brainwashed by my churches and by whomever was leading "worship" to just think that worship was that 20 min. window of time during the day usually only on Sunday when I could worship GOd. This class really opened my eyes to remind me that Worship is done in passion and in every waking moment of your day. just to remind you guys to stay in constant worship!! thank you for reading this!!!

That's soooooooo true.

I have come to believe that TRUE worship just as TRUE tithing is not a decimal point or a time table it's what's in your heart when GOD looks.

I wanted to do a little research on worship, and I found some pretty fascinating stuff. It took a while, because true worship isn't a topic that many people strive to nail down. I found more sites on pagan worship and satan worship than biblical worship, but finally I found a short essay that I wanted to share. It talks breifly about the origin of the word worship and then moves on to biblical mentions of worship.

It's not extremely profound or emotional, but very simple and to the point. Don't let the first two paragraphs scare you away, the entire article isn't boring. (at least not to me...)
