I was reading last night and I came upon the story of how Jesus heals the paralytic (Mark 2). Jesus comes to Capernaum, and while he is there preaching, some men carry a paralytic man over for Jesus to heal. However, some of the teachers claimed Jesus was blaspheming, and that only God can forgive sins. Jesus already knew that they were thinking this, and said to them
"Why are you thinking these things? Which is easier: to say to the paralytic,'Your sins are forgiven' or to say, 'Get up and walk?'But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins."

Jesus has the power to heal us if we allow him to. When we do this, he forgets our past mistakes. When I read the part about whether it is easier to say your sins are forgiven or to get up and walk, for me, it told me not to dwell in the mistakes Ive made in the past because they are forgiven. Instead, just pick myself up, dust off, and continue on. God wants us to fulfill a purpose and we can't if we live in the past. WE must "get up and walk" because thats what God wants us to do.

I think sometimes we wind up in a sort of 'comfort zone' of staying with our sins. Even though we dislike what we've done, sometimes it's just so hard to realize that forgiveness has been given... so we don't move beyond; we stay where we are.

Which is exactly what the devil wants... for us to not grow closer to Jesus, but to stay in our sins.

that's awesome amber! it's so hard sometimes to imagine that there is someone out there that knows absolutely everything there is to know about me good and bad and still loves me. but that's where faith comes in. one of my favorite verses is in Hebrews "FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR AND THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN." sometimes the hardest thing to do is to let go and let GOD. there's a song that me and my sister karis often refer to because we both love it so much and it's so true.

simple but oh so true. i'm so excited to hear that you are walking through healing and "letting go and letting GOD". doesn't it feel great?!?!?!
