I am prolly not alone in my disdain for those "call a psychic" infomercials, nothing can make me switch faster than to hear: "And you can too!"

I always thought they were a buncha scammers.... only out for a buck from those hapless in-duh-viduals who fell for their schpiel.

A week or 2 ago, something caught my eye while catching a break at the hospital on a Sunday morning (I work there). A Black minister was preaching about some of the things we let ourselves get caught up in now-a-days. One of them was, yes, psychic hotlines. He spoke about how the Bible says that we shouldn't seek after "familiar spirits" and "sooth-sayers".






The Bible is clearly stating here that those "wizards", "people who seek after familiar spirits" (we call them fortune-tellers, or psychics) are to be avoided, that they are evil and provoke the Lord to anger. You may know someone that says: "But they work! They know all kinds of things about me!" Of course they work!

These "familiar spirits" are demons, they do have knowledge about us, and these psychics allow these demons to work through them.

Do not call psychics, have your palm read, consult tarot people, etc. You are only allowing yourself to be opened up to demons in the spirit world.

You may share experiences here if you like, how God delivered you (or someone you know) from this demonic addiction, etc.

A couple of years ago I was awakened by some rustiling noises in my bedroom. To my horror, when I awoke there were things and stuff flying in my room. I was scared almost to death. As soon as I could breathe, I went to my parents room and awoke my mother. I told her what was going on and she went to my room and felt the oppression. We went to the living room and prayed for about 2 hours. Afterwords, I went back to bed scared to death. I kept saying "GOD has not given us a spirit of fear..."
That was one of the scarriest days of my life.

You know another thing that will open you up to demonic forces also? Scary movies. What goes in comes out, as they say. Satan wants us to fear....he does enough stuff to scare us, why go out and scare ourselves. That was my hang-up though. I loved the rush of a scary movie! Well, let's just say that one night, one bad "dream" if you want to call it that (it was real though, promise), and a decision was made....no more scary movies for this girl. Just a thought.

No "scary movies" for this guy either... I agree, "junk in" = "junk out". I have avoided those type for as long as I can remember.
Usually the "scary" movies focus on the demonic, the occult, stuff that we should not allow to fill our minds. I really do not know if I am strong enuf to resist satanic influences and really have no desire to find out. The time or 2 I went to a "scary" movie, I left with a sick feeling in my stomach. There's to much out there to "need" to go see these.

I've never been able to tollerate the scary movie thing. When I watched the Exorcist, I had a stomach ache for a week! EWWW Yukky feeling. Besides, the Bible says that whatever is pure and holy we should "think on these things". It's kinda hard to watch stuff with witchcraft and think about pure and holy things.

I enjoy the "rush" of a good scary movie now and then, but I have to agree about the spiritual connections with those movies and the psychic commercials. You are opening your spirit up to the influences of the evil one if you partake in these "dressed-up" occult activities.

I certainly agree we should all watch out what we let in. But Jesus beat that punk devil at his own game and passed the authority on to you and me! He cannot come against me without my permission! He is defeated and I let him know it every chance I get!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday night at church some of the Praise Team and I were talking about scary movies and everything that is associated with them, and we came to the conclusion that 'Hell Raiser I and II' are the scarriest movies out there. They tell how and why they go to hell. Very scarry!! I hate scarry movies, but when I was little my brothers, all older, would make me watch them to make me scared!! I was very mad at them for that because, even now, I am scared to be by myself!!
