My thoughts on that would be cos satan wants THIS life to be miserable.

God's promise wasn't for this life, it was for eternal life. He told us there would be trials.

I wouldn't deny the notion that God allows some of those trials though. It shows Him what we're truly made of, and where we'll turn when the going gets rough. It's a character builder and growing process.

I don't belive OSAS, but to your question, Ashley, satan would have a reason to attack us even if we couldn't lose our salvation...

And I hate to put it in the terms "lose" because I don't believe we lose it...I believe we can forfiet it...give it back. Losing it would be something we did unintentionaly...and I don't think it's possible to accidentaly lose your salvation.

But the reason satan would have for attacking us even if we couldn't forfiet our salvation would be to keep us from living up to our full potential in Christ. It is why he attacks us even now...not just to make us give up our salvation...If we are just dead set on believing in Christ and satan has us so downtrodden (and we let ourselves stay that way), then we won't be able to draw many others to Christ. He wants us to be offended...to take offense to things so that we will blow our witness. Often times it works. I know I've blown mine a few times...

"Once saved, always saved" is a non-issue for me....I don't want out!

satan keeps attacking us to choke the Word of God out of our lives, like Jesus spoke of in Mark:4

Turns out, it is God's Word that scares the devil, and when we put it in our hearts in abundance, then speak it and act on it, it causes great destruction to the kingdom of darkness. 'Ol slewfoot can't afford that, and will try to throw things at the Believer to get them to lose confidence in God's Word by looking at circumstances that contradict what the Word says.

The devil is under our feet, and he is a defeated foe because Jesus has stipped him of his authority! He has the right to bring bad things to me to try me, and temp me....BUT I have the right to use God's weapons against him that are not carnal.

The fight really is so one sided.
The devil is bound to carnal weapons, but the weapons of our warfare are not carnal. We have God's Armor, and God's power through His Word & the Holy Spirit.

This fight ain't even fair!
But, then again, who said we had to fight fair with the devil?
